Will the Coupe and Spider be released at the same time?
2 lists should be already formed for each variant… same viewing, same deliveries

Im sure you are fine with the dealer and all and I have no problem with you sharing your opinion. However, the #1 rule of fight club is you dont talk about fight club. Probably not the best idea to #1 mention that you signed and NDA and then reveal to everyone what was in the NDA. If you sign the NDA, just respect the fact you have insider access and dont say anything about the car or the fact that you signed the NDA and what is in the NDA.

Just my humble 2 cents.
Yeah when a Company wants to keep something secret - they don’t disclose sensitive information to a large number of potential customers (at least I never did). At the earliest development stages there will be/are NDA’s with suppliers. Those supplier NDA’s have leverage - you want to continue to be a supplier keep your mouth shut or else, and in general the supplier NDA’s do work well. By the time the Company gets to sharing product information with a ‘select’ customer base the NDA’s are more of a marketing gimmic to reward top customers, and make them feel special, than a real desire to keep anything secret. The Company by this time expects some leaks, at least can live with them - and in this case has even confirmed some details with the press ….
As you say just our humble 2 cents, not such a big deal 😀

If there are 60 MSO 1 of 1s, and they are getting the cars first, with the earliest delivery later this year… how many MSO cars can they crank out by then? It seems like some 765LT took over a year for MSO to make while the “regular” 765 were delivered first. Is that not going to be the case?

Not necessarily. The majority of the coupes were just regular specs. They figured out how to extract money via MSO with the spiders. I did one of the soon sessions for the MSO spiders for my 765 spider.

It was a bit clunky cause they didnt have all the prices and I would pick something only to find out a stupid price and then changed the spec. The back and forth took forever. They can knock this out in a single visit if you have pricing available right away to help with decision making.

I know price doesnt matter but I wanted to do the dream lines and changed my mind when I found out it was 35k for some pin striping.

Thanks for the insight. So it’s the back and forth with MSO on prices that took a while. I just thought that’s how long it took them to customize the cars at the factory.

MSO is a process … some stuff is readily available other stuff has to be ordered from suppliers and made there as one off (eg. Certain wheel finishes, tinted cf parts, or polished or customer colored calipers (MSO does not know the delivery time and so the car is half assembled and set aside …) so it can take quiet some time till all is done … or you even get the car and some stuff comes to the dealer later to finish it …

They’ll do almost anything. Make new paints for you. Develop new alcantara dies. And wilder stuff still. If it hasn’t been done before, it takes development time. Then there’s the labor cost. The fades and multicolor patterns are extra work to apply. The corealis pattern is like 100 hours or something (The blue fade across the aero streams on a black car introduced with the 720).

Or you could just choose a single paint from their back catalog and be done. zero extra investigation time and zero extra labor. So “MSO work” spans a huge range of almost zero extra labor to many many months of extra labor.

“McLaren is all set to replace the 720S with a new mid-engine supercar. The new model is expected to be called the McLaren 750S. Sources have now revealed that the official unveiling could be held on April 26, 2023.

The McLaren 750S will be more like a 720S facelift than a totally new car. Rumours suggest it will get a revised front and a redesigned rear fascia inspired by the McLaren 765LT. Inside, the 750S will offer Apple CarPlay connectivity but is likely to miss out on the retractable instrument console.”

That was just for me. I think prior to ultimate series, they hadn’t done the mso spec sessions with regular cars so the process just took a bit. For me it was just a price issue trying to figure out where everything landed. Was trying to keep my car around 500k and I was right there when we were done.

The multi paint fades or the full carbon would have added 100-200k but other than that I have a fairly well specced car.

It’s definitely a profit center so doesn’t surprise me that they are doing it again. It’s a good thing to spend a bit more and get a unique car.

I’m sure now that they are doing it for 750, the process is much more streamlined.

here’s a good example, 14 extra months: Car in the spotlight: McLaren 765LT Spider (MSO 1) - My Car Heaven

my 720 is at the other end: 0 months (Or even days?). Just a bespoke paint selection.

Ok I guess that goes back to my original question, my understanding is that these early 750s will be MSO bespoke and will likely take a while to make? In that case how can they be early deliveries later this year? Or these are just going to be on-the-menu MSO options that don’t take extra time? If so, how can they be 1 of 1s?
