750S, how will you configure yours?

So the new 750S is out and thought we could start a thread on how folks plan to spec their own, or spec a dream version.

Sorry to the noob question, but I have seen some people mention this and don't fully understand it. In the video you posted, alexceres at 2:45, he mentions the roof scoop, which is not being offered this time, and I have heard in another video about the glass not being offered or something. Can someone extrapolate on this?

What is different in the 750s regarding either the moonroof, the engine glass, or potentially both that I keep hearing being referenced but not being explained fully.

Thank you guys for your time!

My understanding is the gorilla glass roof just eventually breaks too often so they stopped offering it as an option. As for the scoop, I would think if you wave enough MSO money around, you could get one, but perhaps there is some reason they may not make it available (perhaps some promise to 765 folks)?

No roof scoop available for 750S. MSO or not.

Does anyone have a price list they can share? Would appreciate a PM if not public. Thanks.

the engine bay glass is only available on the coupe. It’s in the configurator for everyone, not just MSO, under the Interior section. You can get the electrochromatic roof, which is about as close to a moonroof as McLaren has offered for a few years now.

Sadly the glass roof is available only with the spider. I wish it were available on the coupe. Would be a great way to get an open cabin feel, but with the lighter weight of the coupe. If I could get that, it would be my top choice. But of course, the coupe has the notch out doors that are incompatible with that really big spider glass roof.

The electrochromatic roof is exactly what you're describing.

I really like that roof! It changes color so quickly as well. So that's still available on the spider, yeah? However, engine bay glass is only on the coupe? One cannot have all good things, I suppose :(

The only potential problem is that the current electrochromatic roof electronics are susceptible to heat, there have been reports that they stop working in hot climates. Not sure whether they've solved that issue for this car, hopefully they have because it's great when it works.

That’s okay with me. Where I live it’s so cold, you walk to car and eyelids frozen

Anyone else find it weird that the 750 is so track leaning but no track telemetry/camera options? I wonder if it’s the new infotainment stack is incompatible or not yet modified to work with it yet?

I was told me a few weeks ago that the reason it was removed from the Artura configurator was because of supply issues. I'm guessing it's the same for the 750S.

Hopefully it will be added back to next years configuration.

While I’m dreaming, it’s weird they don’t add the ability to use the track telemetry as a dashcam. It’s highly relevant feature when you have a Mclaren. Something I wish more manufacturers other than Tesla would add.

Order finally went in today.

Working spec:

Q1 '24 delivery, I am told, although I expect Q2 is more likely.

It's Volcano Blue, which doesn't look anything like that. This is the actual colour:

Interior is porcelain, which may be too white. Seeing a physical car with that interior at the weekend. If it really doesn't work, I'll go for an MSO interior in a light tan, but that adds a) a fair amount of money and b) about 12 weeks. I suspect I care more about the latter.

Otherwise it's as you'd expect for a car that will be driven: CF exterior pack, painted headlamp recess, silver calipers, 360 park, B&W, CF interior pack, electro roof, sound comfort screen, carbon steering wheel and paddles (not the one with the carbon top section), lifter.

I may be quite excited. And quite thoroughly in the doghouse as there was a good degree of begging forgiveness after the fact involved...

Congrats! I love the white interiors, but am too chicken because of my blue jeans. I love the silver rims nd calipers too. The color looks super nice.

Hope you enjoy the heck out it!

I have a November Spider build so I still have a month or two to lock in my spec but for my sanity and productivity need to finalize this and move on. Questions for the group:

1. Am thinking Cirrus grey, black interior, vortex diamond finish. Currently have a Glacier white 720S. Anyone ever see those together and can comment on the difference?

2. Going to go heavy on the external carbon fibre. The one I am thinking to not do however is the under car (diffuser/front lip). The price of that seems out of whack with the rest of the carbon options, am I missing something?

3. exhaust finish option. Saw somewhere for the 765LT that some kept the silver exhaust as it is titanium so you’ll get to see a bit of a rainbow colour on it over time. Same for 750S? Also, would you think the stealth option also changes the colour of the wing supports because it doesn’t look like it in the configurator but apparently did for 765LT

4. The infotainment screen surround can’t be had in carbon fibre as was the case with the 720s and 765lt. Anyone hear about this becoming avail?

5. Any thoughts on carbon hood? The lightweight badge has me on tilt. If I do carbon hood does the carbon wing need to be added for aesthetics?

1. I've not seen the wheels in the flesh, but I'm not a fan of their appearance on the configurator (which seems to be down at the moment). I went with the Strike wheels for mine. Car colour choice is good, I think, although I like to have a light interior in a road car.
2. Depends how much you're going to drive it. I avoided the carbon splitter and diffuser on my 720, and ditto on the 750, because the slightest misjudgement of a speed bump, or the smallest interface with a half-blind French peasant (yes, really) and you'll be out all the money. I wouldn't go within a hundred miles of the carbon underfloor, for a start, given how often I've replaced some of those panels.
3. It's described as "natural steel" so I doubt it's Ti. Dunno on the wing supports.
4. I've asked the question of MSO. Same for the Artura-originated mode selectors, which I have asked to have made in carbon.
5. Personally I think both the carbon hood and the rear wing are bleh on a road car, unless painted in which case what's the point. Lightweight badge is silly. Carbon wings also, I think, because this isn't a 765 and shouldn't pretend to be one.
