McLaren 3rd party service options
For those that cannot find easy answers in the FAQs (FAQs:Common McLaren Questions, Problems & Fixes) and that do not want to DIY (DIYs: McLaren Do It Yourself Thread), but do not want to pay McLaren dealers for service, we have compiled the following list.

A couple of notes, while your car is under warranty (see FAQs item 3.0 for Warranty information), you may prefer to stick with dealer service. It's not clear, but it is possible that using a non-dealer to do work on your car may result in future problems not being warranted, so caveat emptor, buyer beware.

That said, for many people, particularly with those with cars out of warranty, a more cost effective solution and 3rd party option may well be preferred. Traditionally there have been no such 3rd party option, in part because McLaren's computers needed to test/reset many items in its cars/ECUs are prohibitively expensive, and/or are otherwise not obtainable. Please keep that in mind as some of the 3rd party vendors may have to conjure creative ways around this, and it's worth asking them how they deal with this issue.

That said, much of the work you may want to perform on your McLaren will fall into 4 general categories: 1) Body Shop work (e.g., rim rash, fender benders, paint, etc.), 2) mechanical/operational work (e.g., brakes, oil/filter changes, service checks), 3) Mods/Major Upgrades (e.g., more power, exhaust, suspension), 4) Feature/Minor Upgrades (e.g., clear and decorative wraps, radar systems, audio systems)

As I get requests, I'll endeavor to add providers in all 4 categories as people promote requests in this thread. It likely won't be complete, but hopefully will be a good starting off place. If you see an asterisks "*" next to a provider, it means I'm not sure if it provides such services, and you should follow up with the provider yourself (and report back here if you can confirm, thanks).

Indeed, I can assist with mechanical work. I can also provide advice and expert consultation for customers who buy parts oem or aftermarket from us. We will shortly have computer "MDS"-like access to reset modules in the car and flash maps onto the ecu. Zombie, thanks for the mention!! For those who are new, MP4Dream is XPRD. I became a vendor/sponsor to support the forum. I work closely with crystalimprezav.

Those who buy at a certain level will get a free service manual or oil and water caps.

XPRD has hooked me up on multiple items... and his prices and dedication to the details are unbeatable... (MP4Dream... That should get me a nice little discount on the next thing I need, right???) :)

Oil changes, brake fluid flushing, brake pad changes... all this is basic mechanical territory and any experienced mechanic can get the job done. Also most mechanically inclined owners can do it themselves as well...

These cars are not hard to work on, the real issue is there is not a lot of PUBLISHED information so we all individually start each "project" blindly and have to figure it out as we go along....

I am in Northern California and the Las Vegas area. I also have an affiliated shop in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach. On the east coast, I have a partner in Maryland.

BTW, I should be able to completely repair transmissions, also. Working on reverse engineering since late last year.

I made all the tools to assemble the motor. I can sell to your local shops if they are interested.

Who is your partner in MD? We can probably send them some work.

We have factory level McLaren diagnostic tool and service information. We also work on the majority of McLarens in town. I don't think anyone can be "independent" and "certified" as far as McLaren is concerned. If you need something give us a call. German Motorworks 615.383.3361

Not sure where to ask. This seemed like an appropriate place. Where can I go to order oem parts. Is there a way to set up a wholesale account with the dealership if you own a shop? It is completely different than what I’m used to with any other dealer. I cannot find any info on this.

Thanks for posting!

When I told my dealer that I was going to change the oil in my own 570S, he also said that I might void the warranty. I did not want to get controversial, but the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 says we can;t be excluded from warranty. He was right though in warning me to save all my receipts.
Here is the law:

ATLANTA GA - INDEPENDENT SHOP

My shop exclusively services, repairs and modifies all McLaren models since 2011. We have a long 30yr history working on all major exotic and sports cars.

We provide everything from 12C headlight mold removal to full engine-out rebuilds and performance upgrades. We also customize vehicles with ceramic coatings, exterior color change wraps and custom LED RGB lighting (Hey, not every car is broken... sometimes going to the mechanic shop can be fun! Right?)

I personally have owned six different McLarens and have accumulated nearly 50k daily driven miles on them in the past six years. Many people in the southern region of the USA either drive or tow their vehicles to us because we are much more affordable than the dealer.

Just explore the hyperlinks in my signature line below and if you don't already know me, you will see I have been a strong technical contributor to McLarenLife for the past 5 years and I always share how you can DIY the repair yourself or save lots of money finding repair parts without the dealer markup when possible.

The shop is just 20 minutes North of Atlanta GA and if you are interested please just send me a PM.

Cheers!

I'd like to throw this guy's hat in the ring for him as an alternative to dealers... VERY accommodating in drop off/pick up days/times... McLaren trained & certified former tech at SF McLaren. Full service shop and that means EVERYTHING that can be done to a McLaren, he can do it, short of Body & Paint.... Cars ALWAYS stay INSIDE whether or not they are being worked on!! BIG DEAL in my book..
