Having a play with the system on a recent trackday, it's actually very good.

Downloaded the software from McLaren Ownership - Track Telemetry Software | McLaren Automotive

The cameras show their age for sure (and for some reason only one of the three seemed to transfer), but the software is solid. The screens in the car while on track are excellent with a live delta, can even have the trackmap up if you feel like it/get lost.

I believe it's standard on the performance model, optional on others.

Next time out, I'll be exporting the raw data to overlay on a GoPro as the 480P (or it seems even less) just doesn't cut it these days.

How do you activate it? I have yet to play with it on my car (it has the cameras and the app). Can it be used on a public road for say backroad carving and getting data out?

Race logic /vbox is NOT the system for 720/765/senna telemetry .

it is not Simple to use or set up, or to troubleshoot and not simple for the typical person to use the software or to even screen record with overlay .

as previously stated ; the system is very good. There were no instructions for the first couple of years of 720 deliveries . System has now been out for almost 7 years. No need to re-create the wheel .

From what I gathered, it was a rebranded VBOX unit with a new custom OS. This is just garnered from forums so not saying it's 100% correct (and this was mainly based on the 570/600 series).

There are also some (but not complete) instructions in the user manual for the 720S. But no instructions for the track telemetry analysis software after you export.

The file format for the telemetry is .hd5, whereas VBOX is usually .vbo or .dbn, I'd need to investigate to see if .vbo is just a renamed .hd5.

I've found some Python programs that can convert .hd5 to .csv (which could then be used in the telemetry overlay program) but will need to play with it.

Guess I'm not using it then. No way I'm going through that hoola hoop. I'll just use my dash camera for footage. Likely better video quality too.

I'm struggling to get this Track Telemetry app to work.
My car has cameras & app. I viewed the guide here: Login • Instagram
When I go to app - almost all options are disabled/grayed out.
I can only select "Track map color" or Storage available" options. Rest are disabled/greyed out.

This is what it looks like:

Does the car need to be in some special mode (Track/Track), running, parking brake engaged/anything else at all????? - to get this app to allow me to configure it?
What is WiFi even used for?

Thank for you help!

Man this app is weird and non-intuitive.
So I sorta got it to work, but still not really.
I was able to get to the "main" screen where you select your name, track and start the recording - that worked (but I wasn't able to finish/save it).
For some reason it didn't save it though and my name (new driver) didn't get saved either.

Now the weird part is - sometimes when I select/start the Track Telemetry app - it goes back to the screen I pictured above where control are disabled.
I'm still trying to figure out what conditions make it go to this screen vs. the "main" screen where you can start recording.

I went for a drive, came back pulled over (car still running) - attempted to start new sessions - no dice - screen above.
Start slowly driving - attempt to start new session again - same thing.
After a while - attempt again - now it works, but the "finish" button is not enabled. Is it looking for me to complete the actual "track circle"?
I was forced to press "Discard" and loose the recording.

Whata weird app.....

P.S. Still don't understand WTF is the WiFi settings for???? What's being connected over wifi and to what?

I'm going to try and play with it this weekend. I'm a bit tech savvy and see what I can report back in here. I've just spent more time enjoying driving the car than messing around with the app. I have the app+cameras.
