warning: complete junk. where do I begin? This is the same unit as being sold by "mysupercarexpert"


The description states “you will receive instructions for the appropriate installation after purchase.” When the unit arrived, no instructions came. The seller provided a video that was extremely unhelpful. Half the plugs were wrong or missing on a 650S.

When we finally figured out how to install the unit, we found it to be not as described and hardly functional. More than half the time, the unit will not power up. The other half, the screen shakes violently and needs to be reset. Once the phone is connected, there is no GPS in the unit to make mapping functional.

Android auto is hilarious. The screen resolution is wrong, so you have to touch about a half inch under where you want to select, and the top 20% of the screen is cut off.

Reached out via whatsapp with these problems, and while the seller responded at first, they have since stopped responding, until I filed a chargeback with my credit card.

This place actually pissed me off so much with their arrogance, I decided to upload both videos and make this review.

Android auto was a last ditch effort when the carplay features I videoed and asked about went unanswered. If you arent "mysupercargarage" then the poor communication isnt towards you, however the product is the same.

What kind of fraud is going on here? I diddnt buy from you directly but you somehow knew I charged this purchase back and said I should contact you first?
There is no fraud going on. It's as simple as this: you bought the CarPlay product from another seller and have confused us with them. We are KKS-Supercar, not the seller you initially contacted.

Regarding the chargeback, I did not know about it. I was confused when you mentioned it because you never contacted us about these problems. This misunderstanding seems to have caused a lot of frustration.

In our listing, I clearly stated, and informed clients who asked, that if you primarily use Android, I recommend holding off on your purchase until we ensure everything is error-free. It seems the seller you bought from didn't inform you about this Android issue.

So is it KKS Supercar or KSS Supercar? Because both are on the same web page… Not that it matters, since I am not in the market for your product, just noticing the errors
Sorry for the typo issue and thank you for letting me know. Our developer has corrected it.

Just to share, KKS stands for "kakushin" (革新), which is a Japanese term meaning innovation.

The "glitch" can be resolved by pulling and reinserting the fuse, causing a hard reset. When the carplay unit is removed, this does not happen.
I would like to defend the product a bit here. Your case might be due to an installation error. In our showcase, we have not encountered any problems with CarPlay or power issues.

I will be making more showcase videos, as we are actively promoting this CarPlay product. We have installed it on our own McLaren, and it works absolutely fine with CarPlay.

What would be really nice is if McLaren itself took some base electronics like this and did their own module. It would do a lot of good, and it frankly would help resale values of existing mclarens. Development costs shouldn't be too high since most of this kind of work is done, they can market it up 100% and people would be glad to pay it.
Indeed, McLaren should support CarPlay directly. However, if it were factory-supported, it would likely be much more expensive as an option. For example, Ferrari charges over $5000 for CarPlay as an add-on.

The module works.

the install isn’t pleasant but it works.

it could be better optimized in some ways, I’m hoping that it will be in the future. Even as it is, it works very well.

Please see my compete thoughts in the other thread on this topic in the super series forum.

KKS was very helpful to me even though I didn’t buy the unit from them. I would recommend both them and also Marco at Mysupercarexpert.

The main issue with Android Auto is that there are many different models and brands, each with their own customized Android system, which makes it challenging for us to test all of them.

To address this, could you please let me know your phone model? We can see if we can test it for you to ensure compatibility.

what a shame ..... You opened up a company in my home town Hong kong . just to resell some knock off Products.
You picked the one that has most margin ..and doesn't even know how it works ...... There is a reason why I don't bring those here. because some of them sucks.

This apple play module is extremely laggy, you should know it by day one. I don't want to say more but this is bs.

This device is absolute trash and worthless. I would suggest everyone on the forum avoid this product. Nothing but problems with the second one we installed, and we will not be doing another one.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. However, it's important to address that not all experiences are the same. Installation errors or purchasing from different vendors can sometimes lead to issues, but that doesn't mean the product itself is faulty. We've installed the CarPlay module on our own McLaren without any problems, and other members of this forum have also reported successful installations. I understand your frustration, especially after spending a significant amount on a Chinese-produced body kit, but it's always best to evaluate the product's quality fairly and without bias.

Other members of the forum have reported lagginess, and issues. You diddnt provide install instructions, and even on unit #2 we are having constant problems. improper install wouldnt cause lag, crashes, and freezes.
