Hi, I recently joined the forum and still need to do an introduction but thought I'd go ahead and share a video that's relevant to this thread. I had the opportunity to run against a C7 Z06 last weekend at the Dallas Wanna GOFAST 1/2 mile and the results are consistent with other videos... except this one is from a dig. BTW, my 570s is stock.

On Sunday afternoon three 12c's and a 720s were at wannagofast Dallas. It rained and track was very slippery and using launch control was not possible. The 12c's went 159, 160, and 161. The 720s went 167. A Z06 has no chance against any of the Mclaren models. My car was traction limited into 3rd gear. These cars are amazing!

Again, would be lovely to see how the new 755HP ZR1 can do .. best bargain for Super Car power, (and look) still at $100K less than the 570 ..

Still, the Sad part is .. when a Vette shows up .. (say a Z06) it is a chicks' magnet ... McLaren? Sausages' magnet .. *_*

Wow nice surprised it walked the z06 that much I have a 2015z but looking at a gt come spring
FYI, I was visiting my dealer this week and was told the 570GT & S models have been essentially discontinued in favor of the new Spider. Appears you can still order one but dealers will not be receiving any 2018 allocations for inventory. You may want to inquire with a dealer so your not disappointed.

so many variables in these videos. 7 spd manual vs mclaren trans is a crap shoot for the z06 (typically not in the vettes favor). tires? anything but the cup2 tires and hot weather just results in tons on wheel spin for the z06. even on cold corsas my 570s is far more manageable than any of my z06's were in similar conditions. lower weight of the 570s goes a long way for us.

i've had 3 z06's with 2 being fairly well modded (1 h/c+bolt ons and the other the same+procharger). my 2016 z07 was the only one i left stock (had the a8 trans). i've loved all of them and think they were all great performance considering the cost. but the 570s is miles better and more enjoyable in every respect than any of my z06's were.

In the video I posted the corvette was an automatic and on cup2 tires. The drag races were just after an autocross in Southern California - so cold weather was not a factor.

My dealer said he is getting 6 GT allocations for 2018.

Both a Z06 (manual) and 570GT are in my garage. Love them both -- built from the same ingredients, but with such totally different results, it's hard to choose between them. So I decide as I open the garage door. Can't go wrong.

Even if you took the best times from both using Dragtimes you're looking at a difference of 7 tenths of a second. About 8 or so car lengths. That's still less than what the video shows so even then yes the Z06 wouldn't of lost by as much. However like I said average times are a better way to compare things because the best time rarely happens frequently.

edit: dragstimes shows a best z06 1/4 time at 10.2 which I'm not sure that will happen often. http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet-Corvette-C7-Z06-Timeslip-28250.html
Here is a stock z06 auto running 10.7. http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet-Corvette-C7-Z06-Timeslip-27343.html but like I said the average for a z06 is around 11.0-11.1 and a 570s is 10.7. So yes the race would of been closer than in the video.

I have owned both a C7 Z06 and a 570S - my C7 was an automatic. It could not put the power down. You had to baby the throttle at lights to keep from spinning the tires. Got out of it after 5 months in favor of the 570S. 570S was much easier to launch on the street by far. Of course, drag radials on a drag strip in a Z06 can give you great launches, but street tires at a stoplight are a different story. I don't think the C7 would have done better from a dig in this vid. Unprepped airstrips are dusty.

I don't know about a corvette, and I've only had my 570 for a day, but when compared to my 15 Vanquish, the Mac draws more looks. People literally were driving over to look at it in the parking lot today.

All that said, IMO, there is nothing that looks sexier than the Vanquish. And James Bond drives and Aston. Sadly, it still draws WAAAAAY more sausage looks than female attention.

I joke that I bought the AM hoping women would love it, instead I get plenty of attention from 16 year old boys and middle aged men!

Both my 12C and especially my 570S have been the first cars I've owned that have gotten equal attention from women. I kid you not, THREE TIMES I have caught a woman hopping in the Mac at cars and coffee events. Twice in one day with the 570S. The response from two of them was it was too irresistible to not get in. I have never had a guy do that, or anyone do that in any of my other cars. Another girl decided to randomly strut her arms on the hood of the 570S while another was taking snapshots... Right in front of me and my wife.
