Can you pm me info?

The motor is a day away from being fully assembled. McLaren will not sell one part from the short block, so I have to make everything myself. The main bolts that we custom designed are in the final engineering stages.

Believe me I wanted this done in February. Well, I hope to have it available, soon. Might debut it and other products at SEMA.

Bolt on Turbo Kitx
MoTec M1
Fuel rails
ISG block off
Carbon intake tubes

Stay tuned

What is it about Mac that they feel perfectly comfortable taking a reasonably large chunk of change from their customers for the cars then, even after warranty is long gone, refusing to support the car with-
Gearbox parts to fix silly leaks
Service interval reset tools so you can change the oil
Core motor parts so you can play with projects

It is a special kind of hubris that allows a company to sell you such an expensive bit of kit then tell you to take a hike unless you pay one of their authorized dealers. Some of those dealers are super good and helpful while others are outright useless; either way, you must use them. So much for the best of the best of the best, with honors promise at the start of the MP4 effort.

Did you run the engine at the dyno? Any results?

I know the guys at Syvecs spend a lot of time to integrate their ECUs with the CAN bus on Audi (Lambo) and Nissan GTR cars.

How did you solve the communication between the Motec and the PCCU that controls the gearbox? Are you able to access the PCCU itself to change shift times, torque, transitions between clutches when changing gears?

I plan to use a dynapack for tuning. I do have a solution for ecu (MoTec) and PCCU integration. Thus far, only McLaren can adjust parameters in the PCCU. It is well protected from my understanding. Can bus integration is a must.

So the gearbox PCCU sends commands to the Motec ECU for example during shifts to reduce torque. And the Motec is able to properly react to these commands? Does launch control work with the M1, also?

Are the PCCU parameters only programmable by the factory or is a dealership able to change parameters?

Resurrecting a 4 yr old tread.....

Anyone actually running a “built” engine yet?

I am aware of XPRD’s (original) product development as well as Renaissance Speed‘s engine package offerings, however is anyone actually running a “built” engine.

Are any of these “upgraded” parts available without being required to purchase a complete engine package?

Wow, it is hard to believe it has been 5 years since I first posted on this thread (post #6). So much has happened in that time, including us becoming a sponsor. However, since this is not our thread, we want to be respectful to the original poster, while being responsive to your query since you mentioned us by name...

To answer your question on whether anyone is running a Renaissance Speed built McLaren engine yet, it is “yes”. I am sure you have seen our volcano red 12C shop car break numerous records over the last 3 years on this forum. It was built back in 2018 with the goal of 1,000 rwhp and reached its power target about 2 years ago. We were the first McLaren to crack over 1,000 hp to the wheels:

The same engine has done numerous pulls, all without skipping a beat. Several years after being built, it is still winning awards at race events. As seen by this Shift Sector event a few months ago on Syvecs, where we beat out many higher HP cars (we were middle of the pack) and ended up in the semi-finals with a 2500 HP Viper:

Given the success of our first generation of built engines, we decided to open this up for others to buy a few months ago and improve on it as Gen 2 with twice the horsepower. To this point, we just released our ABSOLUTE - McLaren Stroker 4.2L Billet Crankshaft and ABSOLUTE - McLaren Titanium Connecting Rods, which can be found in our ABSOLUTE – McLaren Built Engine (Blueprinted Shortblock) V2. We have three concurrent high-power engine builds in process, so more data will be headed inbound soon on the forums...

Moreover, it is always advisable to buy and have your parts installed by the same supplier/shop. Why? To avoid finger-pointing in the event of a failure. Unfortunately, this happens the majority of the time, where the parts supplier blames the installer and the installer blames the parts. The end state is a confused customer and two companies with tarnished reputations. The only way to avoid this is to have one single supplier/shop responsible for both. This is better for the parts supplier/installer and the end customer. Hence, why we only offer fully assembled, blueprinted, short blocks and built cylinder heads.

To provide a better understanding of the work involved in our blueprinting process, this the spec sheet that we fill out for every engine build which is similar to how Ricardo originally built and approved your OE short block:

It is exciting to see how far the scene has come in the years since this thread was started. A 1,000 rwhp was a dream back then, but now is easily reached with the right parts. We are proud to be part of this continually evolving community and those who also want to push the envelope and win at the highest level of street car competition.

This is another Sponsor/Vendors thread. Is it really courteous to post here. I think not.

I will have a major update on motor parts in the coming days to weeks. As I originally pioneered the motor build, I would like all interested parties to please stay tuned for my take on how I believe the M838t and M840t should receive built for power, reliability, weight reduction in the mold of a true Formula 1 engine. I will post weights, design, and materials. I may not post the manufacturers but will disclose all to those who purchase.

We have an obligation to the community, and the right as a vendor, to respond to queries directed at us. We will continue to engage with the community since we are generating palpable excitement with our ABSOLUTE engine development program that is actually in-use, showing results and setting world records along the way.
