I've had this issue before. Philly McL took the fronts off, cleaned the mounting surfaces and applied some sort of heat resistant grease. Problem solved, but some of whatever they used on the surface leaked out and made a mess on the visible part of the rotor hats (as if you dropped ink onto a quickly spinning phonograph). They cleaned that up at this last visit.

i had my hub and wheels cleaned. the workshop cleaned the rust and debris and applied some grease. no more clicking sound. however, after a long twisty drive today, the clicking sound is back. i noticed that there is an indentation on the super lightweight wheels that could cause water/debris/dirt to come into the hub and settle there. it is located where the mounting surface of the wheel meets the wheel hub. i wonder why they did that.

anyway, back to searching for a cure.

To make them "super lightweight" :p

That's true Joe. But it sucks if that is the cause of all this clicking sound. Now that I hear it more often, it actually isn't a clicking sound but more like a stretching sound- like the a rope getting stretched apart when you use it to anchor a boat or something.

Did anyone find a solution for this? I have this issue with mine - both sides, LOUD.

I have taken the hubs off, cleaned and replaced. Did not help. My car has the carbon ceramic brake option and the superlight wheels.

If I pull/push on the brake rotors with my hands it does make a clicking noise. Is this normal? Tips? :)

So two issues at play... one noise is the tires skipping (this is normal)

The other clicking from what i have been told is rust that develops on the center locking hub/nut. McLaren removes it and will clean it and then apply a high temp grease. If you still hear a noise at full lock or close to full lock ive been told its the stretching of the steering rack (also normal).

All is all some level of noise is normal - however if really loud have them do the cleaning mentioned. Its about 2 hrs of labor.

I had the same issue with mine. I recently had my super-light wheels powder-coated and when they reinstalled my wheels, the noise is gone. Just for reference, I have ceramics as well. My guess was either something that was cleaned or possibly the torque amount when mounting the wheels? Just happy to have it gone!

if it's getting loud, the option might be to replace the wheel bearings and take it from there. the service center from singapore that works on my car says this might be the solution to this issue.

Hey guys!

Thanks for all your help, with your tips the noise is now gone. I had it up on a ramp, got the wheels of and I cleaned the surface on both the rims and the brake rotors. I tried first by hand, it dint make much difference to the clicking noises.

Then I tried again with a Dremel and a fine brush-disc, worked great. I seems to be completly fine now :)
