ground clearance tells you everything you need to know there I think andy?

I am beginning to believe that the 600kg figure for the p1 is a spoof... would be the PR department taking a leaf out of the F1 teams books me thinks..
perhaps I am wanting to believe it's a spoof.. I won't question that..
Not sure on that Mike,im sure the hydraulic system will be tuned in to take advantage of the downforce,so just looking at the ground clearance cannot tell us everything ??
Anyway im now armed with the F170 figures for the guys at the MTC so it should be an interesting day,not that im going to get anything, but maybe they will let me take a few pictures of the yellow P1:)

Im assuming you think its could be less????

Another take on the specs - these comments come from the name on that little plaque above:

Just saw the F150 ( the new Enzo) official name not released yet. Overall view: only 499 will be produced. only available in 3 colour. 800hp at 9200RPM with additional KERS of 150HP. Zero to 100 in 3 second to 200 in 7 seconds. Max speed around 370KMH. Fiorano Best lap with Alonso driving 1:20. Numbering expected in less than 7minutes. Fixed seat. Adjustable paddles. Rear Wing and mobile Diffuser. Break from 200 to zero. In 115 Meters. Weight around 1280 include the electrical engine of 150kg. Chassis totally made of Carbon Fiber. T800 and T1000 sheet. Kavler protected underneath.
The car is breathtaking. If I was a Saint and she was a ***** it would make me certainly a Sinner.
I know some people who've had unholy thoughts upon first sight of the P1 as well so again it sounds like the battle will be close on most fronts. I expect P1 to have better brakes and better aero. The Ferrari will undoubtedly sound better and I think it will be "prettier" too. A lucky individual will have the choice between the two but I doubt either car will be judged a loser by those without some form of bias.

Specs from MarkoRamius on TeamSpeed via one of the private factory previews.

trax then clarified that its 800hp from the V12 and then 150hp boost from KERS. Also weight figure listed is Dry Weight.

The most laughable part of Marko's claims aren't on the list though - it's the part where he said "...the F150 is phenomenal and will comprehensively annihilate the P1". Riiiiight... :D

2 thoughts:

1. A dry weight is useless. Especially on these hybrids that are bound to have extra coolers and fluids for stuff.

2. All the Internet bench racing is pointless: NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW if the F70 or P1 is truly faster than the other. If these 2 manufacturers even allow a direct comparison (which is a giant IF), there will be so much manipulation and trickery going on, they'll probably be bringing something closer to prototype racecars to the test.

*Maybe* some owner that buys both will arrange for a private test to compare 2 actual delivered customer cars, but then we know Ferrari, at least, will attempt to prohibit that.

So, bench race all you want. It's fun, but it won't mean jack.

I agree - mag racing is generally pointless. I do like some of the recent efforts to not only test cars on the same day under same conditions but go a step further by putting them on a dyno to measure power output and even throwing them on an alignment rack to check specs. If we could get a control tire that would be even more telling, but I doubt the manufacturers would agree and in these sizes there isn't always a common choice.

9200rpms:eek:......that is going to sound WICKED! 1280kg that is impressive if TRUE. also under 7mins at the RING, unchartered territory for a LEGAL road car. We will see:rolleyes:

Sport Auto Germany probably goes to the most effort to standardize and report comprehensive data, from what I can tell. But yes, even their reports are useless when concerning press cars because there is no control tire and never will be (nor should be, probably, since cars are developed holistically for the tires they ship with). Only the manufacturer knows what compound is used for the tires on the press cars and that alone will make a huge difference to lap times.

Ferrari has figured out how to make these tests (and the subsequent magazine articles) in effect an extension of their own marketing department. Most other manufacturers have not developed that ability, though the non-existence of 458 spider vs 12C Spider comparison tests suggests to me that McLaren is re-thinking their approach and perhaps opted out, for the time being.

With the bragging rights at stake in the F70 vs P1 rivalry, I shudder (gag?) at the amount of politics and shenanigans that are likely to ensue.

Berlusconi might get involved.

It would be nice if some publication could get a privately owned F70 and P1 and have a real test. But I guess that would mean it would be the last Ferrari they would ever get access to.

no I thought it would be more, but as you suggest, it's not going to be more.. letting my boyish excitement to get the better of me. !

The problem is that the media channel itself (the magazines) has been corrupted. So anything written is not trustworthy. But if the two owners did their own test (or one owner that owns both), that might be interesting.

Throwing out my bold prediction - the new Ferrari supercar may be called the Agnelli for the late head of FIAT, Gianni Agnelli who passed away 10 years ago.

During this morning's F138 presentation in Maranello they dedicated a short bit of it to a video honoring his legacy.

Bold prediction for sure. I doubt it tho, as to the uninformed, it just sounds like pasta.

I heard it will be called the Benito, after Benito Mussolini, as it will dictate performance super car limits.

The Ferrari Benito..........the car whose performance you can trust. A new direction for Ferrari. Place orders here Grazie mille!

That would work. Maybe a McLarenLife member VS. an F-chat member? I'll bring the popcorn.

It'll still be HUNG out to dry by the P1.:D:D

They could do some sort of alpha-numeric with reference to him. The Formula One car dedicated to him in 2003 was the F2003-GA.

According to someone on FerrariChat... "They just dedicated the new Maserati plant (ex-Bertone) to Agnelli the other day."

I am probably wrong, but on the off chance I might be on to something I wanted to look smart for a moment. :D
