600LT Production Numbers

I believe this has been a topic of discussion in the past but have been unable to find any firm production numbers for the 600LT spider and coupe. Just viewed a recent YouTube vid. that stated right-hand drive production numbers for the U.K market were very low at just 175 ea. for coupes and spiders.

My dealer did indicate numbers for the spider were lower than the coupes which seem to be supported by the numbers currently for sale. A quick look on Cars.Com and 55 coupes for sale vs 30 spiders. My searches in the past have also consistently shown more coupes for sale.

Either way would be interesting to understand the total production numbers for each variant.

When i asked this question, McLaren told me that 174 Right Hand Drive 600LT Coupes were produced, the majority of which were for the UK. At the time of asking, Spiders were still in production, so no idea what the final tally was.

We had a few special editions also... segestria borealis 600lt and the Apex Edition. Not too sure if these fit into the 174 or were extra for the UK and right hand drive markets .

No idea on numbers world wide. My dealer did not know either.

I don't think those numbers pass the sniff test but have no evidence to back that up. If true, an inordinate portion of the production is on the market . . .and $50k back on a new one was possible which doesn't necessarily seem logical.

if the graphic you provided is correct then the total of just 329 cars is even lower than the 500 ea. coupes and spider produced for the 675LT. Just doesn't seem right considering the 12 month production run but would be great if this can be confirmed. Either way appreciate your input and hoping the numbers were actually that low!

329 does seem awfully low, but like everyone else I'd love it if those were the actual numbers. And out of those 329 not all of them came to the US market. Even if the US received 60% of that number there would only be around 200 cars in the states, coupe and spider combined.

There was a previous post on this. That graphic is specific to the UK and not all. Mclaren had previously said they would build up to but no more than 10% of sport series for each model year to be 600LTs. My 2020 spider was built in September 2019 with a VIN ending in 8752 so I think its fair to say that if they targeted ~10% of sport series to be 600LTs, there are definitely a lot more out there. I had also read somewhere that it was estimated at, using the up to 10% that McLaren previously quoted, that for 2019 there were roughly 800 coupes and for 2020 1200 spiders. The best we can all do is look at the VIN and assume 10% of the highest # out there. I've also read that in general 1/3 of those built make it to the US. That would leave about 241 2019 coupes and 400 2020 spiders.

I was doing some more research and I assumed that the # in the VIN was the count by year as that's how most do it. Back in 2018 McLaren delivered 4806 cars worldwide with 60% being sport series. In 2017 they delivered 3340 with a similar split of sport series. Both of these #s are from their investor postings off their corporate website. I highly doubt they built 8K sport series cars alone in 2019 and 12K in 2020 so maybe that VIN numbering is the total built since inception. McLaren has not posted 2019 details yet even though we are half way through 2020 and their 2018 numbers were posted in January 2019. I did a quick search online for new 600LTs for sale and I see a 2019 coupe with a VIN ending in 8486 and I see a new 2020 spider in that MSO spec they built last of 9088. If those #s in the VIN are the total built and 10% of those in 19 and 20 are 600LTs, those #s above in the graphic may in fact not be that far off. I guess until McLaren gets around to sharing what exactly 2019 looked like, its anyones guess at this point.

For those in the US - is it not possible to get the data from the car registries to determine the numbers. In my geo which is RHD - there are 12 - 600LT Spyders ( I am not in the UK). Hence why the 174 RHD cars makes sense. Lets also assume the deck does not take into account numbers until the end of the production run and the count is a % higher - still goes to show numbers are small IMO.

Mclaren was not shy to announce 500 coupes and 500 spiders for 675LT. They were not shy to announce 50 Lemans and 50 CanAms. They were not shy to forecast 765LT at 765 total coupes ( and maybe 765 Spider production?). Also a number of limited runs at 25 per editions were announced. Furthermore, 500 Sennas & 375 P1s. Yet no announcement for the total numbers of 600LT. Is it because they are more rare? Speculate away as to "why"?

you’re confusing numbered cars vs non numbered cars ( 600 Lt ,12c, 650, 570, 720, etc)

Since you guys asked for it - here are the final 600LT numbers for the USA market. It took me quite some time to put these spreadsheets together and if I didn't do all this work we would have NEVER known the numbers, as McLaren won't release them. The total 600LT numbers for the US market is 720... Interesting they decided on that number...

The spreadsheets attached are based on the date your car entered into the US via customs. So if you are curious when your 600LT arrived into the US port of call, you can search (CTRL + F) your VIN and it will tell you. :)

If you guys want throw me a few bucks for my time, feel free to paypal me (kesslerm1987@gmail.com).

Thank you and let me know if you guys have any questions.

Thanks very much - Really informative and if you add these numbers to the below (which is supposed to be Europe etc (maybe APAC as well) then numbers are still low

I.e. around 1500 units Coupes/Spyders globally
