Maybe it'll be as fast as a McLaren in a straight line now.

1/4-Mile: Even More Impressive
The quarter-mile number, though, is even more mind-blowing. Trapping in 9.5 seconds at 150 mph would make the ZR1 ZTK the third-fastest car we’ve ever tested, behind only the 2024 Lucid Air Sapphire and the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid, tied with the 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid. That’s quicker than the SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano, 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano, and LaFerrari, the next three quickest cars through the quarter. More than that, it would make the ZR1 ZTK the quickest combustion-powered car we’ve ever tested. Even the standard ZR1 would come in fourth, tied with the LaFerrari in elapsed time but posting a higher trap speed.

A couple years back I bought my dream Corvette. 1994 Admiral Blue ZR-1. Grew up loving the C4 and while Id love a C6 Z, the C4 sits perfectly next to my 1993 Mustang GT that Ive had for 25+ years.

I dig the direction the C8 is going with the new ZR1. World beating! First year cars will be in demand with the driver oriented cockpit for sure.

5 years after the C8 came out, has it effected supercar sales? No. Is it a supercar killer? No. Is it a supercar? No. Everyone said all of those things would happen and it never did. I drove the Z06 and they're getting closer to a stock 12C or stock 570 but not quite there yet. As long as they're over 1,000 lbs heavier they never will be, no matter how much power you throw at it. Will the ZR1 best one of those in a straight line? Possibly, but turning and braking it won't get there. I say all this because a Z06 costs more than a 12C or 570.

Long time corvette and mclaren owner. I raced a corvette for 8 years give or take so lots of experienceat the limit.. I absolutely love every mclaren I have ever had and feel the same about past corvettes. The build quality on the GM isn't top notch for sure. The service is rough as well. The c8zr1 has already proven itself on the track multiple times so saying it's a track monster has already been proven. Hell the z06 is faster on the track than the gt3rs and the 720s. So the zr1 with 400hp more should make it near the top performance wise. Time will tell.

Aventador SVJ was the fastest car around the ring for a while, it's one of the last cars I want to drive anywhere for more than an hour. Lap records doesn't make it a good car, one trick pony is only good for one thing.
Statements on reality😂😂😂 You didn’t say ‘let’s wait and see’…you made a defacto statement that they don’t turn or brake. How can you make that statement on a car that isn’t out yet? 😂😂😂

Maybe 4 track records it absolutely destroyed. That’s not reality? OR MAYBE…I guess it was just on a simulator 🙄 So strange…when Porsche sets a pre-production ring lap record people scream it’s a track monster…

I wanna hear you say it publicly: ‘The new ‘25 ZR1 won’t be one of the quickest current production cars in the world when released.’ Say it…so we can laugh at it later.

Don’t change the goal post. It doesn’t matter if only one or none of those Corvette owners track it, it doesn’t change what the car is. You must have very very very little experience with Corvettes. My ‘19 ZR1 is extremely capable on track and super comfortable on the road with mag ride, great storage, heated/cooled seats, car play etc…Oh yeah and it’s not worth 1/2 like most McLarens from that year (even Senna’s are barely MSRP)…and it’s been bullet proof.

It’s probably best that you stop talking about something you obviously know very little about. If 4 track records doesn’t give you some insight on its capability, then I guess Corvette doesn’t market very well…yet the waiting list is long. Maybe McLaren marketing could learn from them…

Let’s not talk about parked as collector cars either…you’ll find WAY more Vettes with actual miles than any exotic out there…

Reality check…it’s ok to be wrong…but to double down on it just makes you sound silly.
I didn't say they don't turn or brake, I said they don't like a McLaren. If you say the ZR1 is going to be the best thing ever, I expect you to say you're selling every exotic you have when you get your ZR1. You don't need a McLaren if you have a ZR1 right, it's better, right?
Yeah when you make hundreds of thousands of Corvettes you're going to find them with miles, but they ARE plentiful with next to no miles because they believe it's a collector car. Go to any cars and coffee, you'll see them, it's the only place they go. Exotic owners don't drive them because they're scared of depreciation, not because the car they made 7k of will be a collector car. I've got 60k miles on my 12C, I'm obviously not worried about that, and I do think the 12C could be a collector car.

So why do you still have a McLaren?

I did drive a Z06, didn't care for the 2800 RPM drone and the 720 left it behind like nobodies business.

But the Z06 sets track records......

I've seen 171 on the clock on my 570 on that straight.....

Interesting that he was dabbing the brakes in the esses. I tried the same thing last time, and when I went out with an instructor for a few laps, he was scoffing at me for it. I'm not sure he realized just how quickly the high horsepower cars pick up when you touch the throttle, he was talking about scrubbing off speed by lifting, but the car always wants to oversteer on the second left hander, which compromises the positioning into the long right. It's more satisfying to drive through there with no brakes and staying off the kerbs, but I suspect in a fast car it might be quicker using throttle and brake.

I heard chevy finally produced a few this past month. Anyone have an allocation here? I have one, supposedly as msrp, I bought a z06 from them 3 years ago... I'm not holding my breath. They said they got 2 allocations so far. lol

My first takeaway from spec mention is the 233 MPH figure. Why are they saying it and not showing it? Let's see it, that's an impressive feat. It quite literally is the reason the XJ220 didn't sell, because they said it would do 220 MPH and couldn't.

It would seem it's GPS validated which at least they did that right, as per prior history of fraud.
