You never know: My 12C ran perfect until it didn't -- white smoke, cracked head, etc. Appr. 25,000 miles at the time. Decided not to renew warranty appr. 1 yr. earlier. $70,000. (other things done, like 'track pack cooling')

My 570 ran perfect until it didn't -- failed DLD, and resultant starter motor failure. Appr. 12,000 miles at the time. Had decided not to renew warranty just couple of months earlier. $14,000.

But now, with appr. 8 yrs. of ownership, I'd be out nearly $60k anyway, just in cost of insurance!
And for last nearly 2 yrs., McL will not warranty my 2012 12C, just b/c of age (no other reason, car is perfect!)

I'm just too suspicious and leery of third party insurers, so going rogue at this time.

Very interesting. My 12C ran perfect until I changed dealers. Tough to know cause and effect. They let me keep renewing, I guess I was in year 11 or so when I sold (and got refund on the unused time for the warranty back).

I guess I must have bought 9 years worth of warranty. And it covered a bunch of things over the years, of course the big one being at the very end, a full new engine (that they built new and took months to get). I guess I probably roughly broke even on the warranty work more or less.
