New 750S and the headaches that followed.

I finally took delivery of my fully optioned out 750S. The car looked stunning. From a build quality aspect it had a lot of headaches. First the aero failed mechanically before even taking delivery. They had to find a donor car to steal parts to repair my new car. After they fixed that, I took delivery. So many issues soon followed. The passenger window stopped working after the first week. Apparently a bad door position sensor. Then the informant starting bugging out and every time I would set the temperature, it would randomly change to another number. When the top was down and I would roll up the window the window would catch on the pillar cap almost prying it off. Just seems like a lot of issues for just the 1st week of having the car. The power, sound, and performance of the car is amazing. Just need to go back to the quality of the build and final checks at the factory before shipping the car.

You actually created an id on Mclife and this was your first posting and you started this thread ?

I’m going to sell my 750 now and so is everyone else and everyone waiting just cancelled their order .

Do the community a solid and post a picture , the vin #, the title , registration and information that shows you actually own the car (drivers license that matches name on registration , shareholder register if in company name ).

Also , tell us dealer name and your sales person .

This will give us the information /warning to stay away from your car …. That’s the real solid for the community .

If you don’t then you’re just another knucklehead /troll.

Why don’t you do the same? Post up all of your personal info… If you don’t, you’re just another knucklehead/troll.

I do love the car, it drives amazing and it's got some amazing power. I just wish the little hiccups weren't there. You wait a year and a half for this build and a little hiccups can be discouraging. On a better note, McLaren factory rep literally just called me to help me out with the issues. It's probably related to this post. I think we're on the right path now

100%. There are no serious issues. Only minor headaches. I think the part that is frustrating is you take delivery and take the car home and a couple minor problems flare up. They come pickup the car on a flatbed, which in of itself is dicey with the low ground clearance. You hope it is handled well while away from home. You get it back 2 weeks later and new issues happen within the first day. So back on the flatbed. Just tough to watch, but I love the car.

Every marque does PDI and fixes issues. Horrifying issues. Employee drove it into something. Engine doesn’t turn on. Dealers usually don’t tell people. this stuff doesn’t show up on carfax and the dealer is under no obligation to tell you. It’s not even your car at this point. @unmac would say dealers ought to know their customers better, and he’s not wrong on this particular detail.

it’s pretty weird to lead with this detail instead of say how fast the car is. It was a normal course of business item handled before the car was even sold. Not knowing that PDI is a regular thing for all manufacturers is pretty wet behind the ears.

Passenger window. Meh. Pretty minor, warranty repair thing. Happens with other manufacturers.

The electronics and interface. Whelp. McLaren. Not a trillion dollar tech company. Sorry. You really should have bought the car for its best in the world steering and suspension plus stupid speed. If you would prefer an iPad, I can probably find a guy.

The top down window issue sounds more serious. Warranty item. It’ll be fine.

It’s a bespoke hand assembled exotic supercar hopefully made to your personal specification. It‘s not a mass produced by robots Camry.

in other news, everyone who tells me Toyotas are bullet proof is clearly higher than a fucking kite. I‘m trying to help one of my coworkers lemon a brand new one now. Their experience is worse than any I’ve had with McLaren. It’s a total piece of shit, soup to nuts.

oh and Porsche ? Yeah. Know a guy who flew to Germany to get his gt3rs with the snazzy fun European delivery. Engine didn’t turn on. Ooops. So much for that European vacation.

cars. Extremely complex machinery. Nothing in the real world is 100.0%. Stuff goes awry. Don’t void that warranty.

It’s not that OP is lying or wrong. Just a real lack of perspective on the auto industry. Plus, a little sad, for him, that he didn’t lead with “holy fuck this thing is amazing, i made my neighbors piss themselves, but wtf is up with the windows build quality guys ?”

Love the orange on the wheels. Looks really cool and unique.

I will say this about infotainment systems. I’ve found in supercars I couldn’t care less about the infotainment system. Or the sound system. The last thing I want to do is listen to music while I’m driving. I want to listen to the engine. Yet I still opted for the upgraded sound system in my 765LTS

McLarens are just a pure joy to drive, so don’t miss the forest for the trees. It’s annoying to have these issues, but once you get them worked out you will forget about them pretty quickly with how great these cars are.

I never turned the radio on in my Artura. Not once. When my 750 gets here I doubt I do either. And Artura doesn’t even sound crazy great. I couldn’t give an extra whit about the radio. Window issue sucks for OP, sure, but that’s something that should be a relatively easy fix especially if close to a service centre.
Reallyike that spec!

i use CarPlay a lot in the artura and Bluetooth in the 750. But I don’t pretend to hear the fine distinctions between Bose and Burmeister. In the 765, I mean, I turn the music on, out of habit I guess, but I can’t even hear my own thoughts let alone whatever the speakers are attempting to do

Window regulators are an issue, mine has that, too. Seems that the central convenience module with regulators gets stuck blocking the windows (sometimes fully in some position, sometimes with wrong end positions), especially if you use the key to open roof&windows and the comfort close open functions. Bit annoying when it starts raining when you're driving and you can't close the windows.
Stopping, locking and using convenience close, sometimes coupled with opening/closing the affected door after locking/opening has solved it for me so far. Clearly a software issue which they will fix in due course. There is one other guy with similar problems in the issues thread. If this is going to be the biggest issue I am going to see on the car I am OK with it. Could write books about MB and Audi, once returned CL55 and two SL55 in a row. McL is surprisingly good, even not taking the small volume production into account.

Seriously some of you need help.....
"I don't do XYZ so not sure why that's even an issue for you"

Who cares what you do or don't do, OP is speaking about their car that they spent their hard earned money on.

But hey if anyone of looking for a house Miami for 2 million i got one for sale, the roof might leak but that's ok, it's bespoke

No shit. It wasn't just one problem either.

It's shameful the way a certain group on this website behave, asking people to post their personally identifiable information, bullying those who dare to report that they might have experienced a challenge with their car, trying to control what people are allowed and not allowed to post (on a forum that they do not own, do not pay to use, and are an equal participant with everyone else regardless of how much money they own or how many cars they own).

This is the public Internet, car forums have always been this way regardless of what this certain group says that this doesn't happen on other forums - it does, I have been on Ferrarichat since the early 2000's, Rennlist, Pistonheads etc. Its all the same, a mix of owners (new and used), those who pretend to own cars, those who like to work on their cars, those who rely entirely on dealerships. It's always a shit show.

The owner of this 750 probably won't return again due to the reception he received, and who can blame him?

If someone wants a forum that focuses only on those that spend $300k minimum per car, only buys new, has a collection, has to share PII before being allowed to join, is not allowed to discuss anything mechanical (because warranty and dealer network, right?) then please go ahead. I think typicalowners.com is available for domain registration. Should be a riveting forum to visit (if you meet all the criteria)

Moderators do nothing about it. So it continues.

This is all teething stuff; sounds like a couple of faulty sensors that are easily replaced. No serious problems, and if you want a new-model exotic you should be prepared to abide. First, the aero is not an issue, because it was fixed. Also, unless you know exactly which part was replaced, it could be as minor as a fuse or relay. Dealers, and especially salespeople, will act like they walked through hot coals and broken glass to get you your car. The wise move would have been for them to not even mention the aero issue.

You shouldn't raise the windows with the top down, it makes you look like a poncy hairdresser. The passenger window is better fixed in the closed position, less drag.

Who is this "informant" you mentioned? Just kick him out of the car and enjoy.

If you remain unhappy, I will buy the car from you for $100K off MSRP.

As a soon to be first-time McLaren owner who will be spending nearly $500k on a new 750S, I can appreciate the OP’s frustration with these niggles. This is especially the case since I live approximately 2 hours (100 miles) from the nearest McLaren dealer, so I am concerned about the transport logistics. We all know that the performance is tremendous and the cars are beautiful but it is helpful for me to hear about potential minor issues and how they are handled to help me see around my rose-colored glasses.

Good luck with your beautiful new ride and best wishes for a great owner experience (for all of us!).

Minor problems are the exception and not the rule. Happens to every brand.

just added another car last week. Got the redesigned 2024 AMG GT 2 door. Arrived at the dealer on Monday and I picked it up on Tuesday. Evidently somewhere in transport it got a quarter size dent in the roof (they fixed in 30 minutes). Now there is an issue where it keeps reporting the windows are being rolled up due to rain (car is inside a garage when it occurs and windows are already up). So it’s a glitch in the matrix and they are working on a fix.

Bottom line, cars aren’t perfect and stuff happens. Annoying = yes. Inconvenient = yes. End of world = not at all and not a reflection of any brand.

These aren't commercial aircraft, where a small manufacturing defect could mean lost lives, thus the attention to detail on a supercar although great, isn't to those high standards.

That said, op's complaints are certainly reasonable given the money spent.

It's the not posting his drivers licence when demanded I have a problem with, the nerve of him.:p
