warning: complete junk. where do I begin? This is the same unit as being sold by "mysupercarexpert"


The description states “you will receive instructions for the appropriate installation after purchase.” When the unit arrived, no instructions came. The seller provided a video that was extremely unhelpful. Half the plugs were wrong or missing on a 650S.

When we finally figured out how to install the unit, we found it to be not as described and hardly functional. More than half the time, the unit will not power up. The other half, the screen shakes violently and needs to be reset. Once the phone is connected, there is no GPS in the unit to make mapping functional.

Android auto is hilarious. The screen resolution is wrong, so you have to touch about a half inch under where you want to select, and the top 20% of the screen is cut off.

Reached out via whatsapp with these problems, and while the seller responded at first, they have since stopped responding, until I filed a chargeback with my credit card.

This place actually pissed me off so much with their arrogance, I decided to upload both videos and make this review.



 
Android auto was a last ditch effort when the carplay features I videoed and asked about went unanswered. If you arent "mysupercargarage" then the poor communication isnt towards you, however the product is the same.
 
What kind of fraud is going on here? I diddnt buy from you directly but you somehow knew I charged this purchase back and said I should contact you first?
 
the video glitch seems like a connector issue, as does the power issues. It would be odd for software to provide power fail 50% of times. I wonder if you guys got a bad unit.

admittedly I would love that outcome (selfishly) because jt would mean I’m not going to have a terrible day tomorrow. 😂
The "glitch" can be resolved by pulling and reinserting the fuse, causing a hard reset. When the carplay unit is removed, this does not happen.
 
This device is absolute trash and worthless. I would suggest everyone on the forum avoid this product. Nothing but problems with the second one we installed, and we will not be doing another one.
 
Thank you for sharing your feedback. However, it's important to address that not all experiences are the same. Installation errors or purchasing from different vendors can sometimes lead to issues, but that doesn't mean the product itself is faulty. We've installed the CarPlay module on our own McLaren without any problems, and other members of this forum have also reported successful installations. I understand your frustration, especially after spending a significant amount on a Chinese-produced body kit, but it's always best to evaluate the product's quality fairly and without bias.
Other members of the forum have reported lagginess, and issues. You diddnt provide install instructions, and even on unit #2 we are having constant problems. improper install wouldnt cause lag, crashes, and freezes.
