Just stumbled upon this. And if this actually connect through wired CarPlay would actually resolved the wireless connectivity for CarPlay and provide Google maps for Android users?

Alright, I was able to make Android Auto wireless and Apple Car Play wireless working on Artura and 750S.

The Ottocast is compatible, you need to connect over USB-C to USB-C hide the widget in your console, no modification necessary, let the unit reboot a couple times to adjust the resolution, and voila. You have an AI box which is basically just and Android 12 running over wired Apple Car Play USB connection.

Then if you click the MultiConnect App it allows you to connect via Bluetooth your smarphone with either Android Auto or Apple Car Play.

The unit itself is completely autonomous you could just ad a nano SIM and operate all your functions from it's interface and leave calls to your phone only. The upside is it allows you to install apps that normally wouldn't be supported on AA or ACP.

For example I can run my Radar Detector app on my Artura info screen which is a killer, basically my R8 radar connect Bluetooth to the Ottocast which run on the screen of my car the Radar app which is not supported over AA or ACP, wow! I posted a few pics below.

Think of it as an Apple Car Play compatible device. It plugs into your USB-C ports, then it shows in your McLaren as an Apple Car Play device, but it's not, it will show up as a full fledged android tablet if you will.

The very same service will allow for Android Auto from your phone over Bluetooth on your Artura screen. As well as apple car play.

Think of it as a trifecta. You are cheating your Artura into thinking it's connected to an Apple car play device.

Just used it on my Artura and it is awesome. Connection was solid. Wirelessly connected to the ottocast no issues. I have been using it with Android auto so far so good.
First issue I have is that I can activate voice assistant, but then it doesn't do anything. Second, how do I switch between android auto and then back to ottobox android?
Exit on AA as you would normally do.

Few quirks discovered in the last few days, if you keep the unit connected (as I do) whenever your Artura infotainment system goes into sleep the ACP "menu button" might become unresponsive. Either you wait it out till the next start or reboot the infotainment system by holding the home button for 10 seconds.

Also the on the couple version of the Artura, since it's a complete carbon fiber tub, the GPS signal is really poor if you keep the unit in the armrest to the point of never locking in satellites. I found out that if you leave the unit in the cup holder which by the way is a perfect fit it'll lock in satellites eventually.

I just bought the Ottocast for the Subaru. I can connect to the car on the phone with a wire, but it took three different cables before it worked. The Ottocast connected perfectly first time, but I can't get the phone to connect to it wirelessly, it knows it's there because there's a message about Android Auto trying to connect but it never establishes a connection. The phone is still on Android 12, which I suspect is the issue, I'll be updating it in a few weeks probably to 14.
Best work around is delete the phone BT pairing from the car infotainment and phone also. Then fire up the Ottocast (or whatever the vendor is) Then under Ottocast there is an app called "Multiplay" then on your phone you should see an "AA" or "ACP" request just accept as you would normally do, and then it'll work.

The main problem is when you connect BT to your car's infotainment, and the Ottocast, and the Multiplay and some others, it create confusion on the smart phone ends and just from one connection to the next.

Update on the flat cable, it doesn't work, it feeds power but data is no passing through. So it's a fail.

On a side note I have installed Highway Radar and connected my R8 to my Ottocast over BT and now I have a connected Radar detector showing up on my Artura's infotainment, pretty slick!

Also R/Tach works, not as good though R/Tach App

Ok, I tried it again after opening the Multicast app, then pairing, and it worked! Android Auto connected and the map went live. Thanks for the help!
Take the time to get comfotable, to be honest, now that I have installed all the apps I need under the Ottocast I do not use AA anymore I use everything within the platform. I just set my phone to "Auto HotSpot" and I am ready to go. I get split screen etc... And can use apps not even supported under AA

Just got mine, disappointed, I use Audroid auto with my Samsung, but spotify keep laging and the device disconnects every 10'.
Do you have the same ?
You're using same config ? AA via bluetooth ?
Make sure you deleted and unpaired your phone from your car infotainment system. Also unpair and delete your car from your phone.

Now unpair your phone from your Ottocast, and delete Wi-Fi settings also.

Reboot everything double check make sure you are not connected to your car or Ottocast.

Then under your Ottocast UI start the android Auto app, pair your phone through this app only. Enjoy.

On my Artura, I've the ottocast and indeed it allows to connect wirelessly to my Samsung.
Drawback :
- if the phone is next to the gear selector, I've a lot of of connection breaks. 20cm away and it works. I though at the beginning that the phone was to close to the ottocast, but after some tests it's not the case. I'm wondering it there's a lot of electronic there and it disturb the bluetooth connection ?
-there's no integration with the car GPS, so when I use google map for navigation, it's not replicated on the GPS of the driver display

Other than that, works great.
Let me know if you have similar issue
Yes you are right about the HUD integration, that irks me too. I tried to use the "native" map instead of going through AA connection and it's not recognized. That said I no longer use AA and rely 100% on the apps I installed on the Ottocast and the music display on the HUD and I can control playback from there.
