Just stumbled upon this. And if this actually connect through wired CarPlay would actually resolved the wireless connectivity for CarPlay and provide Google maps for Android users?

I tried the cheaper wireless dongle and it didn't work with my 2023. But the OttoAiBox did. Plugged it in and it loaded by itself. It self-rebotted 2x to adjust the screen resolution. Thereafter, I connected the bluetooth on my Samsung to the OttoAiBox and was able to play Pandora and listen to audiobooks from my phone. Not sure if I can mirror my phone's screen to the car, will need to do some research on it.

On my Artura, I've the ottocast and indeed it allows to connect wirelessly to my Samsung.
Drawback :
- if the phone is next to the gear selector, I've a lot of of connection breaks. 20cm away and it works. I though at the beginning that the phone was to close to the ottocast, but after some tests it's not the case. I'm wondering it there's a lot of electronic there and it disturb the bluetooth connection ?
-there's no integration with the car GPS, so when I use google map for navigation, it's not replicated on the GPS of the driver display

Other than that, works great.
Let me know if you have similar issue

Yes you are right about the HUD integration, that irks me too. I tried to use the "native" map instead of going through AA connection and it's not recognized. That said I no longer use AA and rely 100% on the apps I installed on the Ottocast and the music display on the HUD and I can control playback from there.

Update on the flat cable, it doesn't work, it feeds power but data is no passing through. So it's a fail.

On a side note I have installed Highway Radar and connected my R8 to my Ottocast over BT and now I have a connected Radar detector showing up on my Artura's infotainment, pretty slick!

Also R/Tach works, not as good though R/Tach App

I just bought the Ottocast for the Subaru. I can connect to the car on the phone with a wire, but it took three different cables before it worked. The Ottocast connected perfectly first time, but I can't get the phone to connect to it wirelessly, it knows it's there because there's a message about Android Auto trying to connect but it never establishes a connection. The phone is still on Android 12, which I suspect is the issue, I'll be updating it in a few weeks probably to 14.

Can also confirm ApplePie Ultra works, and works extremely well. Same idea as the Ottocast. Runs a newer version of Android, but doesn't have Otto's better interface if you want to use it standalone. But it picks up and pairs my Android or my wife's iPhone within seconds of the car booting up. Usually before we even pull out of the garage.

Few quirks discovered in the last few days, if you keep the unit connected (as I do) whenever your Artura infotainment system goes into sleep the ACP "menu button" might become unresponsive. Either you wait it out till the next start or reboot the infotainment system by holding the home button for 10 seconds.

Also the on the couple version of the Artura, since it's a complete carbon fiber tub, the GPS signal is really poor if you keep the unit in the armrest to the point of never locking in satellites. I found out that if you leave the unit in the cup holder which by the way is a perfect fit it'll lock in satellites eventually.

Just used it on my Artura and it is awesome. Connection was solid. Wirelessly connected to the ottocast no issues. I have been using it with Android auto so far so good.
First issue I have is that I can activate voice assistant, but then it doesn't do anything. Second, how do I switch between android auto and then back to ottobox android?

Think of it as an Apple Car Play compatible device. It plugs into your USB-C ports, then it shows in your McLaren as an Apple Car Play device, but it's not, it will show up as a full fledged android tablet if you will.

The very same service will allow for Android Auto from your phone over Bluetooth on your Artura screen. As well as apple car play.

Think of it as a trifecta. You are cheating your Artura into thinking it's connected to an Apple car play device.

So you're running two Android devices using the same screen? How do you switch back to the car system?
