I'm just watching the conversation flow and evolve, but the owner of the car in the first video until about 10 or so days ago I knew absolutely nothing about. I only know because he's actually got a Hennessey Venom F5 and apparently alot of McLaren's. Perhaps something to investigate at a later juncture.
I know Rafa (owner of the gt3x) in your initial posting . He lives in Houston and has started a track club that will have a clubhouse , other members , etc.

He has a business component to what he is doing .

Ah OK I see. I guess circles like that are (perhaps) relatively speaking small. Elsewhere I ran into (so he stated) a forthcoming owner so I just follow them a little, that's all. Thanks.

Rafael is a friend and knew about the car before it was launched and ordered it on the spot. While it may seem he does not know much about the car he knows a lot. He is a up an coming driver that will be competitively racing in the future. He is doing a lot for racing and people around him. He is definitely someone to keep an eye on as everything he puts his mind to blows up really big in a good way.

Thank You for letting us know. He seems like a good guy and I hear good things so it's all good. It'll be interesting to see his skills and experience grow.

Maybe the car might go to Kennedy Space Centre one day! I'd PAY to see that! Perhaps a Laguna Seca hot lap, but with these multi million dollar cars it's perhaps not worth the risk. It's a class car.

Again Thanks.🙂

Someone was running one at COTA at the last Pure McLaren event there. That's how I know it has air jacks.

What are the 720S GT3X lap times, compared to the Senna, with a pro driver?
I don't think we know yet. In "warmup" / "acclimation" trim the one I regularly see at track days is 2-3s faster than their 765LT. So maybe 1-2 faster than Senna? It was casually running 1:36s at Sonoma with "I don't know we'll see what happens when we start changing / optimizing things" seconds left in it.

It's a little hard to compare, the 720GT3X is a highly configurable aero / mechanical platform, the Senna is not. It's a performance matrix of tires, mechanical setup, and aero setup. In the near term the lap times are going to be limited by the owners / drivers just getting up to speed on what a car like that can do / how to configure it. It's an amazing opportunity to learn / get comfortable in a race chassis without racing, an awesome thing from a driver development standpoint, but also a fundamentally different challenge than showing up in a Senna and running it at the limit.

I suspect over the next 12 months we will start to see them converge towards a repeatable limit, but frankly even in a professional team's hands this car would take a few months to master / test / sort. In casual track day settings that extends to a lot more seat time even with professional coaching / engineering. I'm really glad to see it get driven, there's nothing like being passed by one on the entry to T1 / T10 at Sonoma, goosebumps.

I’m surprised …. I didn’t know they were 2019. The one by me was the first one in USA and it was delivered a few months ago .

this car wasn’t so easy to get ….. mclaren wanted it to go to people who race or track a lot . My friend had to write an essay to mclaren of why he deserved this car and how he was going to use it .

the GT3x should be 4-5s a lap faster than a race GT3 (basing that on 488GT3 vs 488GTM). Harris was 6s a lap quicker in the 650GT3 vs the Senna at silverstone. So track dependent of course, i would say at least 10s. and it wont break everytime you look at a curb...

Problem with all the GT3 Mclaren cars (including 720 GT3X) is that you need mechanics at the track and in between sessions to support the car - and that the running costs by far execeed those of a Senna or Senna GTR … I have had a long talk about this with the race mechanic of my dealer who supports the customer teams and my dealers own race team for 24h races … he showed me the prices and changing intervals of the GT3 and they are 4-5x more expensive to run than a Senna GTR which basically will only need new pads from time to time, tires and very seldom new disks …

does not mean that a Senna GTR is a cheap car to have, but compared to a real GT3 it’s quiet cheap to maintain (of course much more to buy)

Stop drooling over the car and just buy this one.

"Call for Price". Can someone please call them? I would be interested to know what the price is.
