On sunday Wilton House will host the 4th Classic and Supercar day, sponsored by McLaren Auto

We will have a parade of 200 Supercars including 4 veyrons and quite frankly , you name it it''l be there, other cars. The parade will be headed by at least 10 x 12Cs we are aiming for 12!

Almost all privately owned, they will then be parked "pride of place" on the main lawn,.

Thanks to the generosity of Lord Pembroke , McLaren and the owner, there will be McLaren GTR "longtail" (Gulf Spec) on display , as will Lewis Hamiltons F1 car.

McLaren Auto , quite frankly, has been tremendous with their support , to us and to the drivers.

see you there

Please watch this as it was fun to film!!!

Actually it was a good fun day, the supercar parade into the house is great fun. Petrol heads everywhere, 9 customer 12C's in attendance...

Seems that it was a bit of a last minute thing for McLaren, with things still being sorted as late as Thursday.

They are hoping to put on more events for owners in the future, but looks like they are expecting the dealers to be organising and promoting them!!

I get the impression that McLaren like very tightly organised, corporate events and not the more relaxed and laid back events like today.

As an owner, I prefer the latter and will be feeding this back to my dealer.

I’m sure Bruce and Robbie will say that it shouldn’t be up to the owners to tell the factory what they should already be doing and I must agree, but will still provide the feedback, as I’m with this brand for a few years yet!

As for the event, well worth visiting and very hands on and personal.

Organisation not quite there yet, as I can attest, but aside from that, a good day out and surely it will only grow and get better.

In my experience, that could not be further from the truth. Thank you for your kind and noted words though!
I'm sure you're right Graham, McLaren did a good job in securing a great position to display a stunning VR 12C righ by the house entrance along with great VIP parking for owner-drivers. The JB F1 car and Gulf F1 long tail on display in the VIP area was a nice touch.

I'd just like to see more 12C owners invited and participating, plus full pro-forma information with respect to meeting times, joining the parade, parking arrangements etc...

I don't quite understand .

WCS is not organised by MA. It is organised by us. An incredible amount of effort went in to the McLaren side of things from both sides.

I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of work that MA put into supporting us. If I may, I would ask you to focus on the first part of your post.

I draw your attention to the fact that the "longtail" is one of four cars on the planet, the logistics behind getting the GTR to Wilton shall remain private but I can assure you that it was only there because of the generosity and hard work of Lord Pembroke and MA.

Moving forward, please get in touch with either myself or Jay Broom if you have any quesries about our event.
Minor nitpick, but McLaren built 10 longtail F1 GTRs (chassis 19R through 28R) and I can assure you all still exist today on the planet.

Only three wear the Gulf livery presently in case that was the point you were trying to make. Also, out of the total of 10, I believe 5 are kept in the UK with one in Japan, two in Germany, one in Canada, and the last in the USA headed for auction soon with a destination unknown beyond that.

While I didn't get a lot of personal benefit from the one appearing at Wilton House, I do appreciate anytime someone makes an effort to share any of these great cars with people who would appreciate seeing them. Cheers for all that! :)

I think the point Zippy is making is that there are many Mclaren owners that would have come to the event if they had been contacted by Mclaren,as many would not have known about it .
Its a small club at the moment, but most are interested in supporting the brand, especially in these early days.I myself would have made the 500 mile roundtrip if i hadnt had other commitments, but i only knew about it from this forum.
What is Wilton Classics?

Sounds like a retailer owned by a Lord but I'm sure it's not.

Never heard of it until this thread.

Same for Clivedon until Boxer sent out a summary, that was a very enjoyable day.

Another Google enquiry and opportunity missed for this year so let us know in plenty of time for next year.

What, When, Location,

Thanks
