If the McLaren actually has a transmission with clutches, like the Ferrari 458 or Porsche PDK
then why does it creep when you let up on the brake ? Do the clutches slip a little when you release pedal pressure ? Are they slipping even when there is pressure on the brake ?
How long will the clutch last if it is slipping ?

The clutch will last as long as the gearbox, they expect virtually no failures up to 100k miles and suggest they could see them lasting 300k miles:eek:

Thanks but my big question is why the creep? The clutch can't last long if it's slipping, can it ?
It is not like a traditional dry plate clutch relying on a friction material gripping fly wheel but is a wet clutch that relys on oil pressure forcing plates together . Bit of a simple explanation but bottom line they don't wear out and do suffer from low speed creep

I thought the creep was intentional. It's more natural and might obviate a hill-hold. Ferrari's dual doesn't creep. I can't recall whether PDK does, but it is the smoothest I've driven. Did you get yours from lake forest, grappa?

My GTR (dual clutch system obviously) has creep engineered into it for the drivers benefit, I quite like the amount it has, slightly less than a slush 'box but makes the car much smoother to drive at low speeds. The amount of creep is adjustable however, I can have the touch points adjusted to zero creep if so desired, surely this is available for the 12C?
