It really doesn't just curious.
Seriously, how would you come up with the answer? Get every owner to disclose their occupation and net worth?

In your original post I think you answered your own question, just throw in some movie stars, celebrities, and racing drivers, and maybe some professional athletes.

Over here Blinky its more the average buisness guy who doesnt like to make a fuss, but wants the best without having to be dictated to by a manufacturer or dealership, likes good service and wants to be involved with something new, forgot celebs and sportsmen it was not on the radar to start with but now some of the more conservative ones are getting the message. But now its getting more press the range of owners is starting to change im sure.

After seeing very all over white 458 owned by various football stars in the Cheshire area, it made the choice even easier ;)

blinky - don't be put off by mark's comments. Seems he is below average and generally very upset about it based on his past comments here and on other forums. :p

Congrats on your Spider order - you'll be thrilled with it, no doubt!

Thank you Peloten25,

I can't wait. but 5 months! :(

I now worry about speed humps and rusty brakes if the car sits in the garage for a while.

Do you guys plan every route to avoid speed humps?

blinky, the average driver has two white dogs immaculately groomed. Likes funeral Black with Andy Warhol paint runs in and knows his MP12 is better than a 458 but keeps stum about it.

Oh, and they are partial to wearing winkle-pickers.

At a MP12 only track day last year it was difficult to say there was an average owner other than they all had a certain smugness about them.

Yes sir, I am indeed practising keeping my face straight for the day I collect the car.

I love theses questions. I have an answer though. I waited 14 months for my spider. In that time I met dozens of people waiting for their car and looked at tons of options etc. The most consistent qualities that I encountered is the desire for something different and an understanding of detail. I didn't encounter one person who was buying it for the badge like I have seen with the f-cars and the Porsche people. I know so many owners of exotics that don't know their engines displacement or the size of the wheels. The mclaren buyer has been through other cars and knows the difference between performance, engineering detail and hype. As far as what we look like, what we do or how much we make, I haven't stopped to notice. It's always been about the car. If you want to know that stuff, go to a car meet and ask a Ferrari guy with a low mileage car and he will be glad to tell you.

That's a good answer. I would add that most owners I have met talk about the way the car drives and it's performance.

I like the Badge. I prefer McLaren's appraoch of being a bit understated with classic lines.

Honestly, when I showed my gf a picture of a bunch of owners with their cars at a track day last year (14 of us, IIRC), her first comment was, "Wow, look at all that diversity!"

...

And then she burst out laughing at a picture of fourteen rich white guys.
