I really need to see a Volcano Red 12c on standard silver wheels please, I have until friday to have my order fully confirmed and the only thing I need to do is confirm my wheels, I def want silver wheels and am now being drawn to the standard wheels as they seem more mclaren, but I have never seen a car on volcano red with standard silver.

It would also help me if anyone has a picture they can post of standard silver wheels on any other colour, if i cannot get one on volcano red,

Please help as i was scanning the net for 8 hours yesterday and came up with nothing,

Thanks in advance

Steve

Sounds like you are in a similar dilemma to me.

Can’t make my mind up between standard and lightweight wheels on a Volcano Orange car and have to confirm by tomorrow (today now!!)

Couple of pictures I have been using to gauge opinion from family and friends.

About 75% prefer the lightweight (I have specced standard at moment) and those preferring the standard wheels being of the more mature years (not unlike me).

need to see the pics off volcano red side by side like you have done for volcano orange, im 41, i dont know if thats old or young, lol,

My own thoughts without hopefully offending anyone are, that the standard look more like the old school mclaren and the lites look slight r8 v10 ish.

I still have no idea what to do, 24 hours to make my decision, and the shares are dropping badly today which is putting me off. ftse down 4.1 percent as we speak

Hey Stevie I really don't think you can lose, either way. All of the rim choices have grown on me tremendously. I used to think the standards were a touch soft, but now that I see the resemblance to the past, I quite like them. I spec'd lightweights, but would have no problem with standards on my car. I may even order a set, depending on how many sets of track wheels and tires I want. Likewise, I used to think the super lightweights were kind of boring in pics, but having seen them in real life, they are sharp.

I wouldn't lose any more sleep over it. The car itself is stunning and the wheels will not make or break the look. They all look great. If you want to hold back a few bucks by going standard, no problem there will be plenty of ways to spend that dough in the years to come on additional tasteful stuff once the aftermarket picks up, including more rim choices. McLaren may even come out with a GT rim that you love. High probability of that, I imagine.

Steve I went with the standard wheels as I thought with steel brakes the discs were not on show as much. The lighter wheels are more open and look better with carbon brakes.

Looks like I’m too old for a mid life crisis, unless I live to 100!!

Now specced much like yours on te exterior.

Also going for a black/white interior, which could be awful, but wanted a bit of lightness and contrast in the cabin.

Didn’t decide until 1.00am this morning, but I think that the lightweights are more delicate and had originally intended on them.

Having lost oodles on the markets over the past couple of months and even more so today, the extra £3k on the wheels pails into insignificance.
