Appreciate any help in advance.

My 570gt is in for service and the techs pulled a transmission fault they have not seen before and want to send it to Mclaren for further guidance. I’m wondering isle anyone has seen this before?

pictures attached of the right fault info I believe

No worries, well whatever they have given you is not a print out from the official MDS mclaren tool... Try and get another read off with another tool

Yeah I know but the pics were generally very messy and not clear. I saw that as well plus that code is too long so who knows I am assuming P1204

@mrvex @Hypurone so I heard back from the dealer/Mclaren. They said the fault was coming from the CCV and that it (the CCV) should be replaced. However, the CCV replacement is not significantly cheaper than replacing the entire transmission so the dealer recommended replacing the entire transmission since it would come with a 2 year warranty.
I’m not sure if I should consider this diagnosis to be the final word or if there is perhaps another solution. I didn’t find anything searching the forums for CCV.

I’m glad to share anything else the dealer will provide, I just need to know what to ask for. Thanks again for taking a look and commenting.

Are there any symptoms? Assuming not, then unless they're doing it under warranty, I'd change the fluid and keep driving it. What's the worst case scenario??

💯 these are my thoughts exactly…. If the worst case is hurting the transmission and needing a new one, well I’m already there so I don’t think I have anything else to lose by driving it. Unfortunately I don’t really know under what conditions the fault occurs. I just bought the car so I haven’t experienced it myself. The tech said they were able to replicate it when driving but didn’t specify what conditions triggered it, so to sum up, yeah I’m gonna just drive it and see how it does. If it happens regularly then I guess I’ll just replace it.

Makes sense… Since I have never worked on a McLaren I am unfamiliar with some of the terminology. All I could think of was crank case valve, which is like a breather tube. And for that to be a more expensive replacement than a trans is crazy!

I mean at the price of replacing of transmission I'd go to or call one of the independents for a cheaper fix since you are out of warranty. I am not understanding how a repair is in the vicinity pricing wise of replacing an entire transmission.

Its the valve block basically, bolts onto the gearbox and is in control/actuation of all fluid flow for the gearbox in leymans terms :)
