I am in SoCal where most track days are warm or hot
After 4-6 fast laps I will do 2 cooldown laps if safely possible for the engine as well as the brakes
but sometimes a flag ends the session abruptly
requiring track exit in half a lap
How long should the engine run after pitting ?
Also I open the engine cover and have permanently removed the engine shrouds ( ? ) to allow better air flow

I usually do 5 to 6 laps. I get off before the checkered flag comes up. Therefore, it is not safe to do cool down laps at Laguna and especially Sonoma Raceway (one will interfere with other cars who are still going at it).

I'll drive around the paddock at slow speed for about two minutes and then I'll let the car idle in neutral for about 30 seconds before I turn off the ignition. I always make sure that the e-brake isn't engaged after I turn off the car.
