yikes, I was considering those tires too. How's the grip on them though? Can they handle the 720s power on the street?
Yesterday I had a hell of a time getting traction, but it was 49 degrees and I couldn't go over 35 MPH for a while before that. I've put maybe 150 miles on them so far, much of it highway, but I like them better than Cup2's. Unfortunately, I might have to go back to Cup2's if I can't find a solution for TPMS. I'm going to have the signal checked when I'm available, the whole not being home thing puts a damper on that.

Got another set of HRE's and said F'it, another set of R888R's, an actual McLaren computer scan tool...and guess what? NO GO! Put OEM tires on rear, and voila, perfection. I guess my 765 HATES R888R's...period. I've given up on dreams of traction and non OEM tires.

I'm hoping this isn't the case for AD09's for me.

I spoke with someone yesterday having TPMS issues since November on his 720. He changed back to Michelin and the problem fixed itself. I asked if he had R888R's before that and he said yes. It's not just your car, it appears to be that tire on that platform.

Interestingly, there are several other friends with 765's that run the R888R with no issue...seems like a hit/miss problem.

This does ask the question, what TPMS sensors are being used? I always use Huf but I'm wondering if Autel or another may work differently.

I've tried 3 different OEM sensors (my original, new McLaren ones, friends 765LT wheels/sensors), 2 different sets of R888R's and I purchased a new TPMS module thinking that was the issue. NOTHING worked with R888R's.

Sean, have you tried fiddling with the rear antenna yet?? If they work on some cars and not others, and OE tyres, it has to be either the sensors or the antenna.
According to the settings I was playing with, the 720 only has a front Antenna. All 4 tires being the same wouldn't matter in that aspect anyway. I'm thinking of playing with the idea of using 315 MHZ sensors and reconfiguring the car.

Very interesting. Promising way forward I suspect.
I have a short period of time to figure out a solution, may end up with new tires, again. I don't really want to have to change sensors again, or tires.

I've been battling TPMS issues for years. My Phaeton has one of the very early systems (some parts on my car are stamped 2002), and the controller revision is now up to G, but it's still sometimes flakey. Reading the sensors isn't usually a problem though because it has an antenna located in the body close to each wheel, although those do occasionally go bad.

Update: I had TPMS sensors tested, all read fine and they manually triggered them to relearn. I drove the car for 30 minutes, no change (as anticipated). I got a response back from Yokohama, they've never heard of this problem but agreed changing to 315 Mhz could solve the problem. I hate waiting on other people, especially people that don't fully understand the problem or how to fix it, so now I'm looking into how I can get past idiot-proof'd TPMS tools to either manually program the sensor as 315 Mhz (getting new sensors that do 315 and 433) or activate so it will learn the car when set to 315 Mhz. That means I'm gonna have to buy a TPMS programmer, which I'm also not familiar with the usage of.

SUCCESS! (for me).

Here's what I know, what I did that didn't work and what did work. I ordered Huf part number 5Q0907275B from a website, should be compatible and superceeded another few part numbers. What they sent me were Huf UVS7050 pre-programmed for a 720s (noted on the box, this sensor requires programming). I didn't realize that's what they sent me till I'm making this post and I went back to verify part number. Both of those part numbers SHOULD work, but didn't.

I purchased Autel sensors https://www.maxitpms.com/tpmscms/product2/654.jhtml and a TS408 programmer. I went with the screw in type, not the click in type, due to concerns with speed. Using the TS408, I went to my wheels/tires that came on my car (last known working TPMS sensors) and cloned them in the tool. I then went to the new Autel sensors and programmed them from the old coding. I made sure to keep track of which wheel went where, though it shouldn't matter with how the system works. This method started reading pressure within a few minutes.

So what solved it? It was likely going to a different brand that has a stronger broadcast signal. Cloning it to the old sensor ID's made it work instantly, having no learning might be a factor but I doubt it. I was tired of dealing with it so I took every precaution. You shouldn't have to have specific placement of each sensor on cloning either, but I did it just in case.

If you're experiencing this problem with R888R's, or any other tire, I'd recommend doing what I did with the Autel sensors. It might make you able to use R888R's again.
