Discover the Race Weathered Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto at 1:8 scale >
Learn more about Amalgam’s weathering >

We are delighted to introduce the latest in our series of race weathered models at 1:8 scale: the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto. This hand-made limited edition of just 5 models depicts the car precisely as it was raced by Sir Stirling Moss to his first Formula 1 victory at the British Grand Prix at Aintree Circuit on the 16th July 1955. Each model is accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car as it crossed the line, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images collection. The artistry applied to these five models underlines our commitment to creating beautiful hand-made pieces which fully capture both the spirit and precise appearance of iconic race cars.

The race weathering has been applied by the artisans in our Bristol workshop, and represents the #12 car as it reached the chequered flag. The 1955 season saw a new driver join the team alongside Fangio: a young Stirling Moss. By the time the Championship had arrived at Aintree, Moss had already shown his raw ability, claiming back-to-back second places in Belgium and the Netherlands. At his home Grand Prix, he led a Mercedes 1-2-3-4 domination to claim the first of his 16 race victories.

Two pieces have already been sold in this edition with just three models remaining.
