Steering wheel vibration in cars with carbon disk

As stated in the other thread, I got a vibration problem since day one and the dealer still cannot resolve the issues after 6 months. Hearing from others who got similar experience with cars with carbon disk. Wondering if any other owners with carbon disk experience the vibration problem as well as it seems to me the problem is not an isolated incidence.

Dear Yimn
I have the same problem from day one and the dealer tried many different things without solution. I suggest you also open the thread in McLaren Forum mp4-12c and not only at owners forum. Not everybody is registered and can read the owners lounge. Let us find out how many cars have the same defect. Rgds /Eric
I had a vibration problem when I picked the car up (between 80-90mph). It was a wheel balance problem that was easily fixed. I have steel brakes
I have carbon brakes and no vivration at any speed between 0 and 250 kph (can't tell for speeds above 250 as we have a lot of radars in France)

Delfs,
I would like to disagree with your suggestion to open a thread on the public part of the forum. The reason for this private section is to discuss a number of topics, including some improvements that McL could introduce, without taking the risk that every detail we discuss will be used out of its context by F's trolls to harm the 12c's reputation.

Yinn, in my opinion, the best solution would be to contact McL directly. MPC have staff dedicated to supporting dealers in the resolution of technical problems, and that's the best way to benefit from the experience they may have of any other case throughout the world

I agree,i speak to the MTC regularly and they know about every problem and are on the ball, its just its sometimes a long drawn out solution between them and suppliers, but i know they are dedicated to solving every issue and dont go on the principal it will go away if you ignore or it or blame the customer as many others do!!!
My car is again since 2 weeks at McLaren Hamburg and they can not fix the problem of vibration of steering wheel. They are in contact with UK but it seems both are helpless!
Fully agree with Owl and Andy, let's not feed the trolls and damage the brand unnecessarily. I'll only post about problems with the car in the dedicated owners lounge.
Sure you all can understand how frustrating it can be when such a minor issue cannot be resolved for such a long time and worse yet no solution in sight. So delfs I thought your problem was fixed after they clued the tire to the wheel or not?
My car with iron discs is vibrating at 100 mph plus. The wheel has high frequency vibes, moving about half inch either way when hands are removes. It tracks true. I had the wheels rebalanced yesterday but no change.

RIC,are you still running on those tyres that you knackered at C/coombe,??? Did you get the pirelli guys to swap your rims over??I hope its not spoiling your trip, but you wont be travelling that quick while your sightseeing with her indoors onboard:D
I had the fronts swapped over but I think it was starting to vibrate at C/C.

We went over the Grimsel in pouring rain today with temps down to 7c and then the Simplon in sunshine at 11c so speed checked back by low tyre temps. On the Autostrada, with no margins and concrete wall as a white line, 100mph was the limit before questions started.

Now in the Italian Lakes and they love the car. Knicker count up big time.
Sounds great in Italy, Ric. Get us some pics. (Please)
Then I can dream of trips to come.

The problems of vibrations from the back has been fixed, but steering wheel has still the vibrations.
Carbon brakes here and no vibrations at any speed.
An Update: The car is finally ready for collection after almost 2 months but the problem remains. Have to say the dealer has tried everything they know how but the vibration is still there, although the problem seems to be less on very smooth tarmac. So they think the issue stems from the structural design of the car in combination of CCM disk. MPC is fully updated about the problem and will await if there is any response from them.

Delfs, any better luck with your car
Dear Yimn
No, same problem after 4 weeks at the dealer. I decided to sell out the car. As soon as the the 2013 model is available I will make a test drive to see if it is different or not. Honestly my car had too many problems and I started to become mad. Rgds/Eric

Yimm. Have you tried a different set of wheels?
The dealer did but was told it made no difference
Finally contacted by the dealer. After discussion between Brembo and the factory, it is determined that the shimmy in the steering wheel is a characteristic of the CCM disk not a fault. Very disappointed b the response as I have been using CCM disk since 2004 and no such issue until now. Anyway, has requested to swap to cast iron disk under warranty. Will see how it goes.
