Thats the latest 6e,rolling it out worldwide as mine has just been done this week also!My car is being updated today, finally. They were waiting until the replacement key fobs arrived.
What version of the software is everybody's car on? I believe mine is being updated to v8.3, wanted to make sure that is the latest?
Thanks andy. Is there anything noticeable after it has been done? Or is it all behind the scenes stuff.Thats the latest 6e,rolling it out worldwide as mine has just been done this week also!
You can let me know,i dont get it back till fridayThanks andy. Is there anything noticeable after it has been done? Or is it all behind the scenes stuff.
The fobs had been upgraded to open the doors ,but because they were being pressed continuously the back of the mini circuit board was breaking,so this new fob has a more robust board to take the abuseHad mine done a few weeks ago. The new fobs open the doors when continuously pressed which I thought the last update did anyway.
Heater temp software upgraded to produce warm air on long trips.
Gearbox software due in July. It eliminates throttle shunt in low gears and gear selection issues at low speeds plus engine drive against the brakes when coming to a stop.
But that is why we love Ron! Nerdy, obsessive, perfectionist..........no just wants it bang on as it should be.The fobs had been upgraded to open the doors ,but because they were being pressed continuously the back of the mini circuit board was breaking,so this new fob has a more robust board to take the abuseNothing very exciting
Okay, there is definitely something good coming. My dealer told me be prepared for an update that will make me happy. I asked for a hint, he said "I'd have to kill you... etc." so I said I thought it was related to the engine, he replied a very well rehearsed "I don't know" with a shit eating grin the size of Jack Nicholson playing the Joker. All he would say is that it is significant enough that McLaren will make an official announcement about it. He also implied that 2013 models will see a bump in retail price in the U.S. of about 10 grand.I tried to get more info on the rumoured engine map coming with IRIS, but they were mum.![]()

So, let the speculation begin. More horsepower? If so, how do they accomplish that? Simple re-tune? Or replace the turbos? I assume redline will stay the same, or else they'll need to repaint that red bit on the edge of the tacho! And what about torque and drivability - they would need to guarantee that there is no sacrifice in that dept??
I could be way off base, but I can't think of any other kind of enhancement that would warrant an official announcement.
Free P12s?Suffice it to say there will be "powerful" news coming that will make everyone smile.
Umm, it won't involve any hardware changes.Free P12s?![]()
15 HP would be pointless, other than to boast its over 600,any meanfull power boost would have to be 25/30 to notice any difference imo,and all 12c,s will be the same from 1 to 5000 according to Ron,on the ECU side, any hardware upgrades would be too expensive to give for free.So I guess the best assumption is that they may flash the ECU for the 2013 model year and the 2012 cars may get the upgrade for free. As andy says, that would be a very nice reward for early adopters, so I hope it comes true. Also, it would mean anybody picking up a lightly used 2012 right now will be getting a hell of a deal as their car may be upgraded to the new power spec in conjunction with the price increase.
The next obvious question is how much of a power bump? I don't want to have unrealistic expectations (and then get let down), but it would have to be at least 15hp to even be felt, no? Plus no loss of torque? On the other hand, can't be more than 30hp, I would think, or else they won't leave enough headroom for a 12C GT3 variant? I don't want to wind anybody up (we don't need another TAG!), but I'm really wondering what a realistic number would be.
