Very few of us can drive these supercars at their respective limits, I agree with Ingenere. That's why the question "which car is the faster one" seems somewhat superfluous to me.

It is also obvious that in such discussions it is tempting to defend one's own product.

My considerations always start with, totally detached from everything: which product fills me with more joy, with more pride to own it? In this case, the answer would be 100% "the 720S". It is simply in all respects the more complex, exciting and higher positioned product with the more powerful wow effect in the supercar scene and the image of the GOAT.

Then the only question is: which one costs me how much and can/will I afford it? At this point it becomes 100% personal. And at this point you would have to talk to Gary about what his personal financial situation is, what is this fun worth to him personally? And I think that's none of a public forum's business, that is his (and possibly his wife's/partner's) own business.

And everyone can read the result of his question "would you pay 100k to upgrade" in the "anonymous" survey. From this point of view he MUST make the change (which he does). Maybe he takes the 100k out of his petty cash or has to work another 20 years for it. It doesn't matter, that's his personal story. I wish you Gary just damn much fun with your new toy!

Leader of the pack! Or depending on how you look at it, slowest of the pack and about to get lapped! I will give you the benefit of the doubt and go with the former ;)
I'd just passed them. I was faster coming out of turn 10, but I still couldn't get past without some cooperation. I'd been stuck behind them for several corners before the straight.

Remember, I said... "In the real world" I didn't see a $100K delta. The 720 is a great car and I will probably add one as I think it is easily the car that made all the rest have to play catch up... and honestly I don't think they have.

So, I guess you must be an expert track driver snd able to wring that 720 by the neck. Good for you. You are in another league if you think the 570 is 'uninteresting'. I have left guys in 720s for dead..... in the mountains and at the track. In the slow one! It's obviously not the car. I'm not the best. I've done some racing and been instructing for 30 years. A real racer in a Fiat Panda would probably lap all of us. But unless you make your living driving on Sunday afternoons.... it just doesn't matter..... except for magazine racers.

My point is, they are all fast. The car's abilities exceed the talent of 99.5%of the guys that buy them... by a lot. Most are used to go to coffee, dinner and stop light drag races. Most never see a track and those that do, go a few times a year at best. The extra power is great, but it's basically academic in the real world.
I generally agree with this...Which is why I said if someone is ‘off the pace’ then it really doesn’t matter. There really isn’t anything the 570 does better than the 720 though...For those who own them they wouldn’t go back to a 570...

I'm a car dealer and not a private owner but have spent time in both cars (and currently have a 570S Track in my showroom). The 720S is much more of an experience in my opinion, but I do like the 570S quite a lot and it's a great little car. For those who say that the 720S doesn't feel a lot faster, I'm laughing. It is about 2 seconds faster 60-130 mph stock versus stock, and that is a monstrous difference that you can absolutely feel. At lower speeds you will be forgiven for thinking they are similar but the 720S will pull away pretty steadily as speeds ramp up.

Driving a 720S at anything approaching its performance potential is a life-changing experience. They are truly extraordinary machines, and do justify their price tags.

And I generally agree with this, the 720 is demonstrably better in every performance metric, but to my eye it doesn't look as good, and to my butt the performance doesn't feel much different either, at least on track. I suspect if I swapped, I'd be looking at the (rarer) 570s at C&C with some regret.

We know...from your 1 track day in a 720s, you’ve stated this several times. If you can’t feel a 10mph difference in the 1/4mil or a 4 second a lap difference then obviously you fall into the ‘it doesn’t matter’ category. Which is fine...At that point there probably isn’t much difference between your 570 and a base C8 Vette...So why spend the extra $100k being it’s not ‘demonstrably’ better than the Vette? Looking back at C&C it would be painful thinking about that wasted $100k. Full circle...

The goat (720s) is just ‘meh’ but the 570gt....now that’s the true ‘sleeper’ in the Mac lineup...

Btw...no one is knocking a 570...I enjoyed mine...great car...but this sillyness that you can barely feel the performance difference says much more about the driver than the car.

I’m moving on...congrats to the OP on the 720s...well chosen.

They have different models for this exact reason. Personally. I’d stay put. The 720 is amazing but “ “most” people never even find the limit on a 570 let alone the 720.
720 is faster. Has better suspension. Active areo. Is that worth 100k? Only you can make that decision. I’d rather have a stablemate (which is what I did) it’s nice to have some variety (and a manual analog car for something different)
This 👆. I was considering a 720s initially when i was shopping for a McLaren and but i eventually ended up going for a 570s and keeping my gated manual R8 (compared to selling it and having the extra $$ for the 720). Personally, having a stablemate and having the option to have two complete different driving experiences was appealing to me than having the faster performing 720s. But to each their own. Also, if its just the color, maybe you can look into getting your 570 wrapped with something similar.
