Below is from Sergio Perez' interview with Formula1.com posted on January 10.
Q: You didn’t have a simulator at Sauber. How have you found it using one? Was it an interesting experience?
SP: It was very interesting. McLaren bases so much on the simulator. It’s been a good experience but obviously it takes a little while to get used to the feeling of the simulator.
I thought the exchange above was remarkable in that I did not know that some teams do not have race simulators. Perez/Sauber accomplished all that they did without that level of race preparation. This makes me feel that Perez will be a huge success at McLaren because he will now be on a level playing field with the rest of the big boys. Up until now, he was playing with a handicap.
We know that McLaren, Williams, Ferrari, Lotus, Red Bull and (I suppose) Mercedes have simulators. Sauber does not. Anyone have any more info on who are the "haves and have-nots"?
