I haven't posted for a while (have been lurking) but I've now found the most perfect spec MP4 in Mc Orange! Even if I'd sat down with a blank piece of paper I couldn't have got it better. Lots of carbon, stealth, sports exhaust, alcantara, sensors, armourfend in the right places etc etc. 10 months old with only 1700 miles.

With a good wind I should be picking up next Wednesday, absolutely can't wait.

I've seen the (UK) insurance thread but just wondered if anyone had any further recommendations? I see Aviva are getting good feedback from some...

Look forward to meeting some of you.

Im pleased for you! Most insurance firms should quote about 1% of value, but getting track insurance is difficult unless you are already in a club, not enough mclarens out there yet for that:)

Try Zurich or chubb private clients, but best to use a broker also hiscox (,i might have spelt that wrong). But your standard company (aviva) dosent usually have a clue.
But you can try directline if you want a laugh as they have probably never heard of it!!!:D
Let us know how you get on

I'd consider 1% a bit of a bargain, cost me 3% here and I though it was a good deal :( The standard of driving is somewhat lacking compared to the UK so someone has to pay for all of the accidents!

Try Locktons they do a Chubb policy that covers you on certain track days, you just have to ring up for approval by underwriters prior to track day.
They are looking into it for me next year Chris, they can only do it for ferrari and Aston club owners at the moment.Im with Chubb but not with the clubs and Locktons have a special policy that is besoke but doesnt incude stand alone Mclarens. You and Bruce are special cases:D

Performance Direct were streets ahead for me - £1800 or thereabouts, but wasn’t looking for track cover.

Speaking as an insurance bod who deals with claims as a profession, anything under many thousands of pounds seems a real bargain to me

1% of value means a one I a hundred risk of writing the car off and that is without taking into account all of those pesky TP claimants that try to screw every fraudulent penny out of our innocent mistakes!

Annoying, but undermining them, keeps me in a 12C.

My policy is underwritten by Aviva through Performance Direct. Price is about 1% of new value and you get 2 years GAP cover thrown in, so if the car is written off you get new for old - By far the best deal I could find and they even do multi-car deals!

Thanks for that, they're both getting back to me today funnily enough because I had to find out the type of tracker fitted to the car before they could complete the quote.
