Seems impossible, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

press band till May in releasing RING timeSo rumors are that the 12c will do it in 7 flat!?!?!?!? Is this possible????
Freaking awesome cant wait to see it. Definitely going to stop by Mclaren dealer in chicago to take a look at this beast. Very excited to hear about the track timessteve sutcliffe hintedthat the boyz from Woking mentioned under 7mins, and that an even quicker version is in the pipeline
that is 599XX/Zonda R territory which are TRACK ONLY HYPERcars and cost over 1mil
we are living in great times! 12C will rewrite it's segment!
R&D in marannello burning the midnight oil![]()
Remember, though, 12c is supposed to pull 1.7g in turns. That is race-car territory. Overall, though, 7 min flat seems impossible. I will be optimistic, though, and call it 7:10.Just watched the 599 XX video again @ 6min 58 seconds and having a hard time believing any real road car can come close to 7 min flat. The cornering speed in that video is insane that that driver certainly wasn't holding anything back. I'm predicting 7 min 15 seconds for the 12C, for now. On the full length (i.e. not the slightly shorter length that Porsche apparently used to get their 7:18 time for the GT2 RS).
Anybody else want to put in a guess? A friendly wager?
under 7.30any advance on 7:08??
Here's a few vid's:Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package smashes Nordschliefe production record with 7:14 lap
The web is afire with news that Lexus has managed to demolish the standing production-car record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The news comes courtesy of EVO Magazine's own Chris Harris and Lexus itself via the miracle of Twitter. Lexus test driver Akira Iida reportedly managed to twist the LFA Nürburgring Edition around the infamous circuit in 7:14. If true, that time puts the carbon-fiber exotic four-seconds ahead of the previous production-car champion, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, at 7:18, and it puts the LFA Nürburgring Edition in the top five quickest vehicles to ever run the track.
Impressive.
We'll keep you posted with more information as Lexus releases details on the run. Here's hoping they had the video cameras rolling while they were out laying waste to the Green Hell.
Those are amazing vids.http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/02/lexus-lfa-nurburgring-package-smashes-nordschliefe-production-re

Any journo's or even McLaren planning to take the MP4-12C back out on the 'ring (last I recall was the crash in late May)? What time would one think that it would post?
Cristian Martii told me they had an actual ring time, which they were very happy with, but it was at the end of their alotted time and it had been raining during the last minute of the lap,so it was pointless posting it as their best timeThose are amazing vids.
Wow, that is going to be tough for the 12C to beat. That is a serious wing on the back of that LFA and it must be generating a lot of downforce. Wonder what the semi-slick tires are? Michelin Pilot Sport Cups?
It took me a while to warm up to the LFA, but the more I see (and hear) of it, the more I desire one. Badass. Great job, Lexus.
Re: the 12C - McLaren said they already had a Ring time, but they wanted to get more video before releasing it. I think that is what they were trying to do when they (Goodwin?) crashed the white car. Not sure if the Ring time they are talking about is an actual time or a theoretical time from their simulator.
Thanks. Wonder if they are still "happy" with it, after the LFA's time. If not perhaps we'll see a new tire on the OEM option list!Cristian Martii told me they had an actual ring time, which they were very happy with, but it was at the end of their alotted time and it had been raining during the last minute of the lap,so it was pointless posting it as their best time
I would think so,dont forget they have a softer compound on the standard tyre because of the compliance of the suspensionThanks. Wonder if they are still "happy" with it, after the LFA's time. If not perhaps we'll see a new tire on the OEM option list!
The standard LF-A did the N'ring in 7.38s, this special-edition Lexus LF-A Nürburgring Package did it in 7.14s. I have no idea what upgrades/changes the latter has over the former.Thanks. Wonder if they are still "happy" with it, after the LFA's time...

,so their ring time will be more about the active suspension and balance of the car under braking with the air brake,2 things the LFA dosent have,as well as being lighter and more powerfull,so i would think the 12c on a good day should be several seconds quicker then the LFA,as it is around everyother track its been compared to
