My tire guy was on his holidays, so his father was at the machine. Oh well, shit happens. They had another small scratch elsewhere already, on a spoke, which I had tried to polish out - but that's a no-go. The clear coat seems to actually have a colour to it and underneath is black:

I got lucky with tyres. The place I always go to nearby just happens to have the only touchless tyre machine in the area. It stretches the fuck out of the tyre when putting it on though.

Wife curbed a wheel on her MB and the mobile wheel repair came to the house. You can't tell it was ever scraped...might work for your wheel?

I have the tire off so anyway will take it to the best car paint shop in the area. I'm sure they will be able to get a match. I've decided to take my Cayman wheels there too to have them do the same finish (they were in need of a refurb anyway) - so they can experiment on those first before fixing the 720S wheel. I'll report back on the results.
