I'll try any post them all in one go as not to create a bunch of threads. Questions just seem to pop in my head more and more as I continue to look for a car.

1) Is there a thread/posting with a complete list of options/prices? I searched but didn't see anything at first glance. I don't want to be caught out by something that I thought was standard but was in fact an option. Would be bummed out to have crank windows ;) Also one car I'm looking at didn't have the original sticker and so I'm trying to figure out what the MSRP was on it and what it may be missing.

2) Is the sports exhaust just what you hear transmitted to the cabin or is there a real difference in the exhaust system?

3) Do circles on the front bumper mean parking sensors on front and back? Were these separate options? In operation do they beep faster and faster as you get closer to something? The sales guy didn't mention parking sensors in the options list when I asked, but I see the little circles on the front bumper. However, I don't see any on the rear. I'm not sure I could live without sensors. I have front/rear and a camera in the R8 which is super useful. Hard to believe there was no camera in the 12C, but don't think I could live without sensors all around given typical parking situations.

4) Has anyone heard if there is a camera option in the works? Of all the options this is oddly enough one I think it most useful if it existed.

5) Does anyone know the cost of the MSO HS rear bumper? I'd probably just wrap the rear to achieve the look if the price was something outrageous like $15K.

6) Are there any non-cosmetic must-haves in your opinion? You know, like power windows.

(2) The exhaust option is supposedly lighter and just allows for louder exhaust. The actual piping into the caning, I believe, remains unchanged.

(3) Yea, no camera. I think once you have sensors, you have them everywhere. The round circles are sensors.

(4) Kevin at the Phili Mac dealer said one customer was having it put in. I'm curious/eager to hear how it works out for that customer. If it goes well, I'm thinking about copy-cating the behavior. Also, a cheezier setup might be to set up a rear wireless dash cam to pump to the front. Lame.

(5) I'd wager it's more.

(6) The lift would be great, but is only available on the 2013's. For me, the seats and memory positions are important. I like the upgraded entertainment system, but realistically, I think it's not possible to find a car without the upgraded stereo. The escort 9500ci (built in radar and laser scrambler with GPS) is available as a dealer install in Phili for 2700 (this is an ABSOLUTE MUST).

I think all the other options are basically aesthetic preferences. Yes, in theory a lot of the carbon fiber pieces save weight, but in reality the weight savings is crazy marginal and you're paying to have the aesthetic of carbon fibre. For example, min comes with a carbon fiber airbrake and tub "Mclaren" carbon logo. I could have done without both, but that's just what you have in inventory.

1) don't believe so, but talk to a dealer for full list, alternatively the McLaren configurator is pretty good.
BTW, I don't believe crank windows were ever a standard fit. They all come with power windows.
2) difference is in lightweight alloy material (inconel) and no mixer box at back end so external sound is growlier/rougher. Regardless of physical exhaust in place, amout of intake sound piped to cabin can be controlled via the menu system. internal sound has no effect on external sound. use the throttle pedal for that.
3) yes it means sensors, no they weren't seperate, yes they beep faster.
4) nope, think that's only ever been scuttlebutt. It would require installing a whole other opening somewhere over the rear.
5) if you have to ask....
6) depends what you want the car for. I know some people don't like the look of parking sensors, but for a daily driver those + IRIS/Sat NAV are about the only things that will genuinely be looked for come resale I think. Tyre pressure sensors are also pretty handy.
If it's an occasion car then go sports exhaust and special or elite paint. If you are serious pro-track driver then carbon brakes (McLaren themselves consistently advise people not to specify them unless they will be regularly and seriously track driving - standard items are lighter anyway and by most mag reviews have better feel for typical road driving). Anything else is just personal taste, bragging rights and window dressing or implies an ability most mortals don't have to determine minute differences in unsprung weight.

My wife thinks the Mclaren fitted luggage is a 'must have' option.

I have never seen a standard interior but have been told it's OK.

Iris sound system is very good. ( others say it is rubbish )

Parking sensors are helpful(if you park on the street).

Electric seats are not necessary as the non-electric seats have electric height adjustment (yes, we have no bananas ).

I think contrast stitching adds some class / pizazz to the cabin.

The tyre pressure sensors also give each wheel temperature readout which is very useful especially as it takes a surprising number of miles for the tyres to warm up and then grip.

MY 2012 doors have magic open sensors and pre cog switches..........both items are essential imop, but others disagree.

My apologies if I'm stating the obvious here .... but don't get the headlight washers confused with the parking sensors. You should also see the little circles on the rear of the car, if you don't have the same circles front and rear then you don't have parking sensors.

5, the HS rear bumper is only a paint job as you cannot get the vents unless you buy the whole HS package ($200k+) so just wrap it !!!

Ahhhhh, son of a bitch... That just ruined my day. Thanks for mentioning that. The car I was looking the hardest at had headlight washers, not sensors. I thought I just couldn't see them on the back due to picture size. I guess this is why people buy new. I just can't find a car that has all the right options. I'm pretty shocked at how many cars lack some really common options. $290K cars without parking sensors = mind blown. Do 12C's not get parked in fields most of the time or something?

I can't imagine that people dislike the look of parking sensors, but don't mind giant useless headlight cleaners. One helps you park, the other does next to nothing. Can't even think of the last time I had anything other than a bug on my headlight.

God, I'm pretty angry right now.

Is it safe to say that such an option couldn't be retrofitted without buying new bumpers?

retro fitting the sensors is easy, its if the software is available on a non-specced sensor car, that is something you would need to ask the MTC about.
Also interesting that you can now spec the rear vents, but not the front bumper:confused:

Well, I think I found my car. Going to start negotiating on it now, though it already has a really attractive price. I'm hoping to get it for $200K or less. Wish me luck ;) I really hate the negotiating part because I feel like I'm wasting their time based on the list prices, but I remember trying to buy an amazing spec'd red LP560 back in 2010 that had a $200K asking price and $270K MSRP. I thought offering $180K would be just wasting their time. I found out a few days later it sold for $179K. So I gotta try, right?

I've been going back and forth between colors, and I finally made up my mind after I saw a YouTube video of it. It's so damn hard to tell what cars look like in photos because the good looking photos are always processed.

Just a heads up, instead of using GIS or Flickr, going to YouTube and searching something like "mp4 12c spotted" is a great way to get a feel for how the cars look in real life situations if you're trying to find the right color and don't have access to a dealer nearby, let alone having a car in every color in stock. Seeing cars in these situations really changed my opinion on some colors.

You guys actually park your cars between other vehicles on the street?? Well, I guess you do not mind what we call the "Bronx Tap" !! Why bother with all the protective films you guys like so much, if some jerk is going to bang your car, front and back, in a parking space ?
With the way people are today...... That's way to risky for me.

Congrats on your decision. It never hurts to offer less; I've learned that hard way too, with a higher-end guitar. The worst they can say is No... and a little haggle room I s'ppose.

For this car, though, it's not like hiking up the belt around a lawn mower and 'gettin' down' to dickering...
