Had a wonderful day today courtesy of McLaren. Meet at airfield next to McLaren at 7.45. 15 minute flight to Goodwood circuit. Breakfast and briefing followed by 45 minute road drive and two 20 minute track sessions in latest spec MP4 12C. Flight back to McLaren, lunch, tour round technology circuit and then into the new factory.
One word, stunning!
Everything was organised perfectly, attention to detail was simply the best.
The 12C is a wonderful car, docile and well mannered and then the next second a wild animal.
Many thanks to McLaren for a perfect day and for once in the UK even the weather was hot and dry with a clear blue sky.

Great to hear. I'm doing the same next month. When you say latest spec, do you mean the cars were already updated to 2013 spec with additional 25HP?
I'll be participating in late July. Was this the overnight event? I've been wondering about feedback from participants... You beat me to the punch.:)
From what I know the 2-day (overnight) events have been abandonned, only one day events are available. I'll attend in july too.

I went today as Russell says great . The cars are standard with 9 upgrade no HP, psi

Perhaps overnight for foreign owners only. Hope so as my travel is booked.

I'll be there July 23/24. My understanding is that we're staying at the Goodwood hotel.

Thanks for the correction, yeah it's the 23/24, I'm just staying a few days on each side and making a vacation out of it :)

I was told by my dealer (in spe) that there are no 2-day events anymore :( so I booked the 1-day event which is ok but a bit of a rush IMHO. Would have very much prefered the 2 day program.

Anyway, hope the weather is ok as I'm not a wet-track junkie  :D

The one I'm booked for on July 23/24 is a two day event. They may have sold out of the two day events. I booked this many months ago.
Coincidentally, I received a phone call today confirming pick-up location for the event. Can't wait!!!
Having reflected on the experience of driving the car for the first time, a couple of little questions for experienced owners.
I noticed driving the car on track that taking the car beyond 8k rpm resulted in slower gear changes than shifting at or below 8k. The instructor actually said to change at below 8k for the best change speed, why would this be? The changes were 3 rd to 4 th on the track so it's not as if the revs were building so fast that I was hitting the red line, always well below the limiter.
I also noticed on the 45 minute road drive that the indicators rarely canceled themselves even after sharp turns from side road onto main road, common or fault?
When was the pre-cog feature removed from the paddle shift, is this a recent change?
