She's run in... absolutely ballistic... I'd have been happy with the car even if you had to run it in for the rest of its life... !! I think i will always love my 458, but its definitely being sold.. no comparison..

So, was that one of you gentleman out in his mclaren orange one that i passed somewhere in southern england in my carbon black?

Mikeyb. How do you compare the steering between the two cars. Also is the seating position an issue/benefit.....oh and brakes!

Steering undeniably better in the mac... i have found the 458 to be a little wooden at times... I think it's a combo of the extraordinarily good vision up front and of course the visible wheel arches (not that the 458 doesn't have those too) which means your ability to place the car i would say almost to the millimetre is unrivalled anywhere.. i have always been a big fan of porsche steering, but i believe the mclaren is better... also i think it helps that the development was done on english roads... we have some shockers as everyone knows, but it doesn't feel like it in the mac...

brakes is a slightly different thing... the 458 lacks a little in initial feel imho, but there's plenty of power... i have standard rotors on my mac, and the initial feel is better for sure.. i am still bedding them in a bit now so difficult to say definitively they are better, but have done a couple of stops from half way through the first three figs and have no problems.. definitely the air brake helps... feels very solid under braking, particularly over bumps when the 458 could at the extreme feel like it was on the stops... (in fact now i've written that i should elaborate and say whilst the retardation was always awesome, throw a big bump in with the 458 and it got a little more interesting!)

just as an aside, i love the way the mac sounds now as well when on max chat... i drove the demo without the kits and whilst not dull, it was certainly quieter than the 458.. the 458 is a lovely noise, and so is the mac now... they are just very different... i love the gt3 rs noise as well when at full bore, but it's difficult to say which of the three is the best.. they are all wonderful things to hear!

i am also falling in love of the noise of the mp4

you begin the drive without active mode, at 40 mph you're already in 7th gear

the v8 rises gently in temperature, and now you're a little bit nervous when you press the active switch.

now it's time to turn the powertrain one to the right !

oh yes !

Inconel Power !

This little mp4 particular sound is transforming into fury of a true racing car

You're flat out on the "hunaudières" !!!

THIS IS AN AND CAR yes it is :D

Music to my ears. If I'm not mistaken, that makes at least 3 members on this forum who have dumped, or intend to dump their 458 for the 12C.

C'mon Ferrari, do you understand now that in the long term your bullsh!t strategy won't pay? If you don't give your customers the best possible product (as advertised by your press cars), then they will leave you as soon as a better option is available!

6e,i wonder when we will see these facts published in some of the internet motoring magazines????? Afterall they have taken many of our opinions from this site and published them as fact before, such as TAG,S topgear time prediction.Lets see if they can put up some actual facts instead!!!

I have had the brakes well bedded in now,and on very spirited runs ive been getting them very hot with the smell of the pads entering the cabin, but no fade what so ever.Still i thought it would be prudent to let them cool a little, these are of course standard brakes

i have to +1 this... i don't see how the press cars are anything more than distant relatives to my 458... definitely have greater power and all kindsa other goodies over my one.. I guess the top gear lap times are a reasonable barometer.. I doubt Ferrari held anything back (!) when the 458 was first up for that test... Although equally I suspect that with so much testing being done at dunsfold , perhaps the set up of that particular mp4 might not be the stock track setting that made the car... Pure conjecture on my behalf.. I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle.. It's decently obvious to me which one is quicker..
