When the new engine map is downloaded there will also be a new gearbox map to match it,this solves the problem of the downshift in manual that many of us have had issue with. This was a bi-product of making the auto mode smoother for those that use the car in urban situations (seems the majority). But for those of use the car as it was intended ,our fix is coming, and i am told will be better than the quick changes of platform 8.3
Seems you have to go backwards before you can go forwards again, the way of programming im afraid. But GOOD NEWS

I never knew it had a reverse gear until I approached Ben for a warranty claim, honest I cannot tell a lie. He said my car has version 9.69 which allows me to pre-cog reverse........it's only released to VO cars as they have thinner paint and more speed.......hence the paint needs regular replacement.

I am amazed that this issue is not an 'issue' as it is a real 'issue'. I am referring to manual gear change not Robbie:D

I guess this is the benefit to not having my dealer play with my car every other week. October seems pretty close now, I will wait till Doris is sorted before doing anything.

True falb, but the main reason was logistical,if customers can part with their cars for a couple of days at a time, then the upgrades can be spread out.If come october everyone wants it done ,even in Vin order,it would be a nightmare if every car has to stay in the shop for over a week. This way they have reduced the individual time by spreading the preliminary work out.

So, now that they need to update the gearbox software again, I assume they have lost that advantage and now every car will take longer in the shop?

Good point, but they said they needed to go back before going forward, not sure how programming works, but maybe they dont have to touch the auto part,so it has reduced the overall time, instead of wiping the whole programme, just a thought, but probably wrong. It would be strange to waste all the expensive shop time for no reason???

Well it depends if they are now conceding that 9.0 wasn't perfect? Sounds to me like 10.0 only exists because 9 didn't work perfectly.

They knew 9 didnt work perfectly, thats why i think it was work in progress to suppliment 10,i wonder how many more platforms they will end up with, they have always said they will never stop improving untill the production run is finished, racecar production mentality and partly what makes it interesting to be involved.

Got my car back from the dealer last week. I think they "updated" my car to version 9, and they absolutely ruined it!!:( The shifts are slow as molasses and very unpredictable. The gas pedal is incredibly dull to start and then the boost blast hits all at once. I'm at a loss as to why mess with it when
"the big one" is around the corner... Or is it???

100% agree, shifting down two or three gears in a hurry (to quickly overtake) now takes two or three seconds, by which time, opportunity lost.

As you say, also have to hammer the petrol (gas :D) pedal to get a response.

Still, not long to go until the November (wasn't it October?) big update, but did anyone say what November?
