This is a hypothetical: has anyone done or knows somebody who has painted the engine cover?

Not the bay where one can get it inlayed with carbon fibre. I mean the black ribbed portion. Can that area be painted by a paint shop; or, do high temperatures, etc make it impractical?

I very much favor the red that ferrari uses in their cars.

Edit: the title of the tread is engine cap. I meant the Ribbed portion. Thanks

I think painting them the car color would look really good - many cars color match the engine covers to the car. Very tasteful IMO. BTW - I'd go with McLaren Orange before F Red :D The Spyker Aileron has a very nice body color intake cover that looks awesome under the glass.

the OEM ABS ones are textured so it needs to be coated and finished. I have OEM one here we cotated to make a mold out of for production. It has been coated, needs some fine tuning and finishing to eliminate some excess molding material. You can refinish this one and have the ability to swap them back if you do not like it. ...PM if interested
