This is how i would want the P13 project to evolve..

* Maximum of 1100-1200 kilos , dry

* Small unit of high rpm V6 or V8 ,mid engined

* Faster paddles than the 12C

* Better sound than the 12C

* Width approx 185-190 cm, Length approx 1-2 inch shorter

* A bit more aggressive design culture exterior and interior

Nevertheless reality probably is going to be a bit different :p

991 turbo will be a ROCKET!........it might outgun the 12C. P13 more inline with 991 carrera S.......with POWERKIT 430hp and porsche quotes 0-60 3.8s with chrono pack sport + PDK. real world probably 3.3s right at the heels of the 12C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......Porsche WILL NOT lay dormant

So you basically want an improved 12C for 911 money?

"p13"

On a private note, McLaren should have a bit more shall i say "meatier performer". Simply in plain english, a more aggressive design culture. A bit more "edgier" exterior and interior designs! Why not a bit more "Sesto Elemento"?

McLaren hope to sell about 2500 units every year of this new vehicle! By 2014-16 in total, the McLaren Group's plans are to sell 4500-5000 units of McLaren cars! That would include P11, P12, P13,P14!

About 1500 P11:s, P12 100-200 a year, P13 2200,2500 annually, P14 900,1000 annually

I hope they don't copy the Ferrari FF (P13) in it's exterior design:/?

Fully agree. I'm really looking forward to the 991 Turbo, it'll be ballistic.

I'd like to see a car that's...

Smaller car, 911/Evora size, something usable in and out of town.
Paddle shift a must.
400ish bhp would be fine, there's the MP4 12C pre owned market if I feel I need more!
Regular doors would be fine if it keeps the cost down.
More Evora than Aston v8 type tourer, drivable on a everywhere, everyday type basis, so not an Exige S.
In short an Evora with the McLaren touch would do the job nicely and you can lose the 2+2.
Pricewise, Evora/911 area would be perfect.

P14? Do you mean the 12c spider?

I would imagine the P13 will have exactly the same chassis and gearbox as the 12C, and the same engine but with two cylinders loped off.

The question is, given that basic architecture, how do you reduce the asking price by £50,000?

Tricky one isn't it, particularly if you want to keep the weight down?

I suppose they could go for a different gearbox, but with economies of scale it makes sense to share as much with the 12c as possible.

Any car over £100,000, people still want all their toys and creature comforts. So no skimping there.

Maybe they should have done the P13 first in order to avoid these difficult decisions?

Or they could wait until after 12C mark2 comes out. But then again, they need the turnover........bloody tricky if you ask me.

At quicker than 7:18, the turbo poses a problem for the guys in Stuttgart as well if they can't make the 918 significantly quicker than the 991 TurboS

.
That is low, likely low 7:20s for the 991 turbo. I don't think they put too much weight on what Nissan quotes. But I'm telling you the 991turbo will be lightening quick! All wheel drive n PDK all revised to improve track times.
918 might dip to 7mins DEAD ;0)
