Not sure the P13 will be able to keep up with anything like a 991Turbo, this list clearly shows the new GT3 (470bhp) is faster than an MP4 and the 991 Turbo will have 550 bhp?

A bit disappointed to say the least, just hope the P13 isn't a competitor for a Porsche Cayman S etc in the end?

Also my 991S does not fare bad against a 458.

You have a point Geoff, but dont forget the 911turbos are no match for the gt3 except in a straight line, and thats the first gen 12c on that list without the power and gearbox upgrade. Also it was a porsche factory drivers time,i would put a good bet on Chris Goodwin would better all magazine tests by a second at least with his seat time alone in the 12c

in my opinion, its sort of Carrera, S and 4S, (possibly Ferrari California?) Territory, though it could be possible to have variations of P13, I wouldn't go to Cayman level.. the Cayman S's rivals can be compared to those of the Lotus Evora, Audi TT S, Its quite an insult to put the Mac there, the price bracket is miles apart also. the P13 is expected to come in around £80k-120k?

The GT3 is a one purpose car just like the Scud / 16M straight from the factory.

Regardless - if and when Mac decides to build a track version MP4 the GT3 will be left in it's dust which I believe would actually happen with todays 620 hp and Trofeo tires.

The P13 is going to be a very interesting build - Mclaren knows how to attack the large artery of it's competitors.

Just make the actual GT3 version road legal ;)

it was a porsche test driver :)
Not even, andy. As I understand from reading elsewhere, this is a PROJECTED LAP TIME, claimed by Porsche, and to be interpreted as somewhere in the 1:08s (i.e. 1:08.0 - 1:08.9). It wasn't a real lap driven by anybody. Not that I doubt them.

I would find it odd, however, to see the 991 GT3 legitimately faster than the GT2 RS, especially since the vanilla GT3 doesn't usually come on Cup tires like the RS variants, no?

991S stay with a 458? Lol seriously. 12C comparable to a 991 GT3? Have you driven a 12C or 458?

It all depends on the driver with the lap times! every car behaves different, at TopGear I would understand the stig will have a few laps to understand the car first, and then probably do a fast 3 laps and pick the best time for it

Dude, it's totally like that...

...on a PS3.

The 991S is a decent car - my boss just bought one on monday, but the 12C demolishes it in every possible way, as would a 458. Except in luggage capacity. Then the Porsche wins.

That said, I can't wait to drive the new 991 GT3 - it's going to be a MONSTER on track. And I won't be surprised if it can hang with a 458 or even the 12C around a corner.

I agree the 991 GT3 most likely will be able to achieve similar corner speeds, but would get killed on corner exit, and even entry. Have not seen yet what the braking capabilities of the new car are? Also curious what performance advantages the 4 wheel steering will give?

6th has another very important point, what tires will come on the car?

Err... no but I used to own a 308GTB when they first came out ( fiberglass model)

Have you driven a 991S with all road holding and performance options?

I'd have thought those lap times cannot be just plucked out of thin air?

Please don't shoot the messenger :)

Yes I have. On a track, in anger. And no, it can't hang with a 458 or 12C.

I really have no desire to drive one. Did think about an S model for a daily driver, but they are way overpriced, 150k for a loaded 991, seriously? They also depreciate like a rock.

Many thanks for your kind offer Andy but it doesn't matter, :) I only started this thread because I was disappointed at the figures quoted and I was not belittling the McL brand/performance as some on here seemed to think.

I do hope the P13 is all I want it to be and will then order it

Thanks again Andy :)

Hope to see you as an owner in the P13 section in a couple of years, its worth having a deposit in,and then if your not sure you can back out,but there is also something to be said about exclusivity:)
