Thank you so much to @EvolutionAutomotive for managing to track down some P1-style bucket seats for my 720S. They arrived in perfect condition (and they're brand new!)!
Oddly enough McLaren wouldn't authorize codes for the newer scan tools to have the dealer retrofit these ones, so I got them installed with the help of LAR Motorsports (so kudos to Michael there!). Apparently newer (official) scan tools now have lockouts on retrofitting / changing seats and require McLaren approval (or they're just no longer authorizing used seat retrofits? no idea, buyer beware!).
It's wild how much of a difference these seats make though. Not only do I gain like 2" of clearance (previously my helmet would smack the roof at the track, so I had to have all sorts of funky angles with the seat to make it somewhat driveable), but I feel so much more confident in handling with these ones. I don't mind the stiffness of them, it feels a lot more like my Elise did previously and that was my daily driver for like ~4 years. They're definitely way more narrow than I was expecting though. These are the wide ones, and they hug me like a glove. I'm kinda surprised since I'm not really that wide, but I legitimately think I wouldn't be able to fit in the standard ones.
They're gonna take some practice getting in and out of (I've heard the Senna ones are even deeper and more difficult to get out of 😂), but man, I can't wait to track with them.
Not sure if I'm gonna keep my sport seats yet, so they might be posted for sale here sometime
