Doesn't changing the wheel/tire size (from the standard factory configuration) send the car's computers conflicting information? I read a long time ago that countermanding orders (to the CPU) can cause the traction management system to apply braking to a wheel(s) and thereby actually decrease a vehicle's performance. (Although the car might look better visually.)

A lower profile tire is necessary to preserve the original total height of wheel + tire.
