No it's taken via a now controllable valve from the induction manifold - search for ISG
It can be set on various levels for each power setting.
Mine is turned off in all settings as after a while it gets a bit much.
It really is a case of RTFM
On a recent charity rides day, I actually turned mine on to level 1 as I found it created more drama when doing a single lap, sure the passengers couldn't talk over it when going down the straight at 165mph

but I did try a few laps with it off and the car just went and did its things rather quickly but without the V8 sound I think the passengers were looking for...
