Thank you i call tomoz ( Alastair ) :)
Very very clever, can produce a new variant and are unable to supply a nav system.

Coupe will bomb don't you think?

If it does Mclaren will be the LOSER in the long run who will buy a car knowing its going to drop like a STONE ! ! ! ( THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING )

Hopefully the price difference will be enough for the coupe to hold its value around the list price 170 versus 210+(loaded),would make me think twice if i was up for a used one, plus it will be in time for a fully working nav??:)
Might hold their price more in the North due to the weather??

Why would McLaren launch the spyder in the UK in the winter  more coupes coming to the market, more choice, no buyers , looks like another fall is coming, I have my name on the list but unless there is a sensible trade in, I may have to stick with my heavily depreciating asset  No idea how London will work this through as it doesn't have anywhere to trade used cars from

Not sure but true, and remember they promised a new model every year,as for London they already have a waiting list of 70 new customers who wanted a spyder without ever owning a coupe, not good in many opinions in securing a loyal customer base and not how the other 2 dealerships are doing it:confused:

Andy. Is that 70 new customers or does that include those of us who have noted an interest some while ago ? If that's the case the list would be well over 100+ and coupe value will continue to fall. For loyalty, McLaren should support existing customers with a trade in of say 95% of original coupe price paid against a spyder. This would also not include the early flippers but those of us that have supported the brand.
Or perhaps I am still asleep and dreaming:eek:

Will not be happy if the other two dealerships are supporting their existing customers but London is not........

I wish that were true,i like you went in with open eyes, but expecting this not too happen, the early adopters will be the ones who take the pain,2/3 years down the line it will be different im sure, but too late for us.But who to blame? mainly the world economy?Bruce may be right but if they do it ferraris way? and who would have guessed 200 cars in the Uk was too much,180,160??? would those customers who had waited wait even longer if they knew cars were being shipped all over the world in greater numbers.nothing is easy to calculate any more so who do you want to blame ,for me its Greece:rolleyes:
If they are showing it to the press first then Mclaren Marketing people really must be brain dead

Have they not learned something very basic from Ferrari -- always show the car to your good customers before you show it to the press

Andy. Of course you are right but it doesnt help that London have their dealership at Hyde Park with no where to display or trade used vehicles from, and with 70 new customers to the brand, are they going to worry too much about us ? I just don't know  but hope that they will find a way with factory support or they will constantly require new customers as the rotation continues if we all lose too much . Agreed that in these time, it's all very difficult :(

Chris, London have secured out of town facilities for service and sale of pre-owned cars ( west side near M25 ) so they are taking steps to deal with the Knightsbridge reality.

If you ask them they will say very few coupe owners are booked to take the drop head.....very surprising in some ways but as the premium is substantial maybe it is not surprising if your not a 'complete-ist'.
The MPC production plan indicates coupe production is stopped in Oct and November and, tentatively Dec/Jan. So the Drop Head Mac will hopefully be so successful that no coupes are produced in 2013.

Whistle why you work.........

We should see D/Heads November onwards together with Fezza D/Heads with bigger brakes, fatter and softer tyres and more hidden not for public consumption BHP and torques.
the fewer coupes made, the better - will help values. Its just my opinion, but I think the drophead looks clumsy - too much like a chopped coupe, but maybe its better in the flesh?
just cancelling this thread SORRY,it wont be revealed next week,it was a misunderstanding based on my order form and wanting my deposit, but they will be the first deliveries in Nov as RIC says. And weve all seen the spy shots anyway so nothing new to see anyway:D:eek:

Jesus andy you're worse than TAG! :p

That made me laugh!!!
But it wasnt me,it was how it was worded in the conversation with the dealership (they rang me). They will say anything to get the pennies out of a yorkshireman !!!,Thankfull for the owners section,i dont mind being thought of as a pillock among my peers:D

Had a long conversationwith the MTC today, and they are so aware how doris is damaging the brand and resale values in the UK,But they are really trying to future proof it,so that all software upgrades can be done to the car,so that car 1 is the same as car 5000 as Ron recently suggested. Also as regards MSO,they are going to produce an options catologe(sorry cant spell) that is not inline with the expense we think of as MSO,as they are finding that they have been inundated with requests they can see they can produce things in quantity and make them affordable.
