One of the first cars went out today with the new key fob, which will open the door from the fob, this is only a small revision and all current customer car keys will be upgraded as its only an electronic upgrade so the key will look the same

couldnt you open the car without touching it by moving you hand across the sensor?

Pretty cool to pop the door as you approach the car. That is a unique feature!

yes, thats how its normally done, now you have another option, say if its raining or very dirty, ive also been told there is another sensor on the body of the car on the air intake side that you run your hand under to lock the car, instead of using the fob

I think what you are referring to is not a sensor, but a keyhole which actually is hidden in the air intake and is meant to be used if the sensors don't work (eg if the battery is out of order, etc)

Hi owl,it was i that told you about the keyhole a few months back, even the production manager didnt know it was there when i asked about entry if the battery was flat.
It was an actual owner i know who told me about the other sensor

This is good news....however

the most annoying thing about the car is having to slam the door for it to shut properly - and I mean SLAM, not to say embarrassing when a passenger has to do it 3 or 4 times before they finally do it hard enough (whilst wincing as they think they're going to break the car).

I've been told there should be a fix soon though.

In the 50+ times I've opened my car, I haven't once failed with the touch sensor, so no problems there. I was told a load of bollox by the Mc rep though (to be fair he'd had a few drinks) as there's no way it'll open without physical contact.
