Hi! :)

My name is Gene Sanchez and I'm 30 years old. I'm currently a physics student at Columbia. After 15 years or so working I decided it was time to get back to school. For several years I was an automotive journalist and helped start a couple online video series. Garage419, Fast Lane Daily were my babies and I had a lot of automotive fun. I currently drive a slightly modded 2011 JCW Mini Cooper. My previous cars of interest were a 00 Camaro SS, 03 Corvette Z06 and 06 Corvette Z06. I've been a McLaren fan for many years. When I first saw the F1 in Automobile magazine probably back in 96 I was in love. I cut it out and put it on my closet wall, it's the image you see as my avatar. I bought Driving Ambition and a 1:8 scale model one fall when I was a kid after saving my pennies all summer for those two specific items. A few months back I was lucky enough to get a very fast run in an F1. Since that time I've fallen in love all over again and decided to start up a McLaren blog. I'm sure a lot of the information you guys will already know about but none the less I hope you all enjoy some of the more opinionated posts from time to time. I look forward to being friend's with all of you as my time here continues on. For anyone who may have been a corvette owner in the past or on Ferrari chat several years back my usual screen-name is Phantasms.

Here are a few photos and videos to get to know me... :)

Hey gene,
Nice collection there. I am too a fan of the corvettes, did my mechanic apprenticeship on those engines, working at Australia's leading lsx tuning shop. Also I'm back at uni studying automotive engineering. How have you found the transition back to study following work?

This morning I'm entering my second week of school so it's a bit hard to say at this point. Initial impressions are that I'm enjoying it and doing very well. I wasn't much of a student when I was younger but it's something that is easier at this point in my life because it's more important to me now. Also, the fact that my girl also attends the same school doesn't hurt the situation. It's a radical change overall but one I'm happy to make.
