Point taken, I can't live knowing its not genuine though, I blame Ron Dennis for this OCD problem.. especially on a McLaren, quality and fitment looks good and tight though.
i know. Hence the dilemma :) If you want it...30 clams... if you want aftermarket, worried about how functional it is relative to the original... Especially for the guys that took the plunge, without the lift kit, I think the original still works the best since its bottom angle really helps out on clearing driveways..

As to the MSO option, not much they can do... What they should have done is to offer a street variant of the GT3 with street legal width at 30k... no limited production... Ill take that for sure... but as a bumper from mclaren at 30k and knowing how much it cost to put a bumper like that into production, that bumper alone if newer owners opt for it is going to be a money maker for mclaren... :)
Sorry dont like it personally . Ruins the whole function over form thing for me , makes it look like something its not ( same with the mso one ). Looks great quality though .

+1.
Looks good, but I still prefer the original 12C front bumper. :)

So a bumper designed to add downforce with the larger splitter and improve airflow isn't 'function over form' then? Funny that as alot of people dislike how it looks but mention that same line....

Unfortunately I cant speak for other people and what they like and dislike , I like the car the way it is ( thats why I bought one ) and dont like this bumper .

Also the 12c was designed aerodynamically balanced ( by one of the best teams in the industry ) Id be interested to see how this "added downforce" aftermarket bumper affects that balance , which wind tunnel it was tested at and would be interested to see the new figures . Its just interesting thats all , not really important to me as my car is a humble daily driver . Just seems like a knee jerk reaction like those horrid louvre things on the front wings . Each to their own and all that but I like to keep my supercars fairly standard when it comes to the bodywork .
At teamspeed.com, someone posted that MSO will offer it at US$27,000. Will be checking if its true.

$27,000US  ...... for what? An item that the aftermarket industry will soon copy, and be selling for peanuts; good luck with that! Is McLaren now following the horrible Lamborghini route with these tacky tuner (edition) parts?:(

plus one (+1 too short a post, apparently!)
This 'new' MSO front bumper option, to my eye, looks too "cottage industry made". The same, I would say, about the MSO fender louvres option ... they look like something out of a J.C. Whitney catalog .... they should have done them along the lines of the MP4-12C GT3's fender louvres (which are much more integrated looking; rather than some glued on to the fender, lumps):p. I'm surprised; it seems like a rushed project.:(
Though the original F1 series both had FLUSH and 'LUMP' designs ;)......I agree looks better flush on the 12C
I like the design of the new bumper, makes it look much more aggressive. I agree and would like to see how it affects the performance of it
Is SPE the only place you can get this bumper?
It is down to $20,000US now so bargain :D
It's now available in France for 15.000 €

KSA,

How would you rate the quality of that bumper...

How well does it line up? Was it difficult for the shop to install (ie a lot of adjustments?)

Thanks,
Chris

PS the car looks great! Did you get the evoms software?
very high quality, complete carbon fiber and smooth in installation.

See if you can ask your bumper supplier to come on the forum and give us some more details....i am sure they will pick up a few orders.

VERY NICE!!!!!;)........665hp holy chit!!!!!!.......what are performance stats like now......can OEM DSG handle the extra power. OMG:eek:......your 12C has to be Aventador quick if not QUICKER!!!!
SP Engineering is HIGHLY respected over here in CA. Some would say they are one of the best tuners in the US. They originally had the center section with mesh, but when I pointed out that the real MSO version has a filled section so they can mount license plates there, they changed the design to match the MSO. To those saying it will not be functional, that is simply not true.

Sport Auto tested the MP4-12C's aero, although the rear wing is in the intermediate position, it is still clear that the aero balance is highly favoring the rear. And yes, MSO states that the bumper increases front downforce, this certainly can be useful for braking as well as improving turn in.

Your car looks awesome with that new bumper. Where did you purchase it?
