Never ending TPMS issue. Help!

So I have an ongoing issue with my TPMS sensors / reading in my 570s and wanted to get some advice on how to get this fixed. When i bought the car i had a TPMS warning light on and had the dealership install new TPMS sensors by discount tire. The ones they bought were this particular model: BHS UV7050 TQ40 315/433 MHZ (shoptpms.com/Huf_Intellisens_UVS7050_p/uvs7050.htm) . After driving the car for a few miles i had the readings started showing in the car but they were incorrect (91psi and incorrect temp) and the TPMS error came back on the gauge cluster. I had discount tire order brand new TPMS sensors (same model) and took them to the Mclaren dealership for them to install them. The dealership installed them and forced the sensors to 'relearn' through the MDS but the TPMS error came back yet again with the same issue (wrong PSI, temp and the error in the guage cluster). Of course the dealership claims that the 570s needs OEM TPMS sensors which are about $1100 with installation, however, i have read multiple posts here saying that people have gotten aftermarket sensors to work with the 570S.

So what gives? Am i using the wrong TPMS sensors? From my understanding most 433 MHZ should work with the car. Is there something which i am missing or any setting i need to change.... Or do i just need to go with the OEM sensors and pay Mclaren $1100 to install them? Am i able to clear the TPMS error through my ODB scanner? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't know if they're the right sensors (or correctly programmed - your model requires it), but I would be amazed if that make didn't work. IIRC, Huf were the OEM, at least for the 12C, where others have successfully used non-McLaren branded ones (again, IIRC, Huf RDE048). McLaren certainly don't make TPMS sensors, nor would I expect them to have a custom part made.

It'll be good to have the outcome documented here. Good luck - that's a lot of hassle for such a small thing.

Hoping I can get some help here and yes its been a pain dealing with this. According to discount tire they have programmed the sensors and apparently the Mclarent dealership tried to "force learn' the sensors with no luck. Im starting to think that this is a bigger problem that it seems to be. Interesting though, i didnt realize that Mclaren doesnt make TPMS sensors. Im wondering what sensors the dealership is reffereing to which cost $1100 :O

McLaren rebrand parts, and add their "tax". I believe that they're Huf sensors with different markings.

It could be a problem with the TPMS receivers and electronics, but hopefully not.

If you can find someone local that would allow you to test with one of their wheels, it would help to diagnose it. Where are you?

tpms.com says you need the RDE047, which are OEM sensors: McLaren OEM Huf TPMS Sensor 5Q0907275B 433MHz

Edit: I'm a day late & a dollar short.

Thanks! I wonder if discount tire carries these or is able to order them. The frequency on these (433 MHZ) is the same as the ones i have so technically the ones i have listed above should work. Wonder whats the difference between the OEM ones and the ones i have.

The TPMS sensors need to be programmed for the application

last time i went to my local discount , they told me they arent comfortable installing the sensors as they dont have the right car lift which is low enough for the 570s :( Have others gotten their TPMS sensors installed at discount?

Discount did program the ones i had ...and they also mentioned that there is communication between the car and the sensors :(

Do the ones you have in say TSSRE4Ud on them? The TSSRE bit is important, I know because I've tried numerous TPMS controllers on the Phaeton, the only one that partially worked was the one that matched the sensors (it only worked briefly because of incompatibility with the CAN gateway).

What?? I ONLY go to Discount Tire because they're so careful about lifting my car. When I had the tires changed, they did it in the end bay with a low-profile trolley jack, and used a touchless tire machine. The lift pads they have are probably fine on a carbon tub, too.

There was a earlier thread on the programming issue

Ok good to know man. Its probably just the shop i went to . Ill try another discount. Im assuming you are referring to taking your McLaren there? Was it a 720 or 570?

570. I did lift it to give them more clearance. I know it's a struggle with my low profile trolley jack unless I lift the front. I've been using my local Discount Tire for years because they've always been really good and very accommodating. The only thing they won't do is fit a wheel with a spacer on the hub.

I’ve had the same issues. Make sure you get a full new set of 4, not just one. They do not have to be bought through mclaren. Mine were bought online and finally got all to work. They need to be programmed though. It is a pain however.
