White, Black is yesterday. Yes it is.

White reveals the contours and people won't ask you for drugs, there now you know. Go do it.

Bart,

Congrats on your upcoming car! I just got the detailed options list from the dealer and noticed the carbon fiber roof as an option (which isn't an option on the configurator on the website). Do you by any chance has a picture of what the carbon roof would look like on a white MP4? Is it similar to a white 458 with contrast black color roof in terms of color contrast idea? I love that idea on a white car, but I can't find any example of it.

Congrats again on your order.

My car will be arriving at the dealer in a day or two but too bad I won't be able to take delivery 'til next weekend.
I got the pearl white (elite) and I will have them take a picture or two when it arrives.

andy c, I have the Canadian price list which probably won't be the same as what it might be in the UK, but to give you an idea, it says carbon fiber roof, $12,408 CAD (I have no idea where the carbon fiber section would start or finish). It's not cheap obviously, but compare to the price for the 458 roof in a different color vs the body, it's not bad as this is a different material vs. just different paint color.

I didn't know they can paint it just piano black.... it's not on the option price list that I got today. Do you think it's still available or it's some MSO job only outside of the standard options list?

Bart,

I also really like the black roof on a white 458 concept, which includes the A-pillars being black as well. So in your case, will your MP4 have black A-pillars as well? How about C-pillars? where does the carbon wrap ends in your case?

Bart, I was looking through the forum for the black roof as well, it's in The Official 12C Special Operations Thread. There is a white 12C with black piano roof, but doesn't quite look like the 458 idea as the pillars are still in white.

THe thing I like about black roof (without black pillars) is that it shows up the one continuous swoop of the body ridge really well - OK mine's orange with MSO black roof, but hoepfully you get the idea

Thank you Texas Mongrel very much for the picture, and it's something I will definitely consider after the dealer can setup a test drive for me. Unlike buying a watch which is a lot more straight forward other than picking the type of metal for a given model (if there is a choice), trying to spec a car like a MP4 as it looks so good in so many different ways inside and out can be a daunting and yet super fun process. Because I don't see myself upgrading my ride as often as others, so I really have to make sure I will spec it in a way I won't regret for years to come. I know there will always be better and faster and prettier versions coming out, as this is an endless chase, I just need to be satisfied with my choices within the given environment once the purchase contract is signed down the road.

RDH, if you will have pictures of your ride with the black roof, I would love to see them if you don't mind sharing with us.

Black. Cars in white just looks like a fridge on wheels. Had a white car in the past. Hated it. Never again.
Very good analogy, like it. BUT we all dine out now so we need reminding how attractive fridges were.:D
