My 12C spec--help and comments please

McLaren Chicago provided a great experience last week. I'll be trading my 458, which has held value better than I thought it would at 4k miles.

For 2013 model-year, USA menu

graphite gray
carbon black interior with silver mesh
superlight silver wheels (unsure about this on a gray car)
orange calipers
sport exhaust
ceramic brakes for look and pedal feel
standard seats
carbon mirror casings
lift, if not too heavy (it won't be unless an additional hydraulic pump is required)

I am not planning on any cosmetic carbon except the mirror stalks and casings.
The engine bay plastic does look awfully....plasticky...yuck

Parking sensors would be nice but such an eyesore.

Still on the fence with IRIS. Poor value. Will it work? iPhones provide decent nav, though at a safety cost. I like audiobooks on CD and don't care about sat radio.

No non-Pirelli options are available at this time per my dealer.

Sadly I see no way to get rid of the glaring silver on the air vents. I thought stealth did that but maybe someone had photoshopped a pic I saw.

Any glaring omissions or eyesores?
Thank you.

The black roof would look really nice with these options.
Sounds extremely nice. All business, and to the point. :)

I'm partial to stealth superlight wheels paired with orange calipers on graphite gray. :)

I agree with Dennis. Graphite with the stealth wheels and stealth package would look great if you are going with CF side view mirrors.
Ergo, I have very similar specs except for calipers (polished vs orange) and I think silver wheels work well with graphite grey. You can see some pics here: http://www.mclarenlife.com/forums/mclaren-mp4-12c-p11/619-french-connection-3.html#post8869

Gents I have to agree. It looks great.

The stealth package only darkens the wing supports and exhaust, correct?
Ergo, who did you work with at LFSC? Did it seem like they really wanted your business ? Did they have unsold cars? Lastly, did they appear to be in a dealing mood?
All the best!
Go with Alcanatara an leather... Silver mesh cloth might hook onto clothing...

That is correct - for $1030. :D

The space fabric has been fantastic for me and breathes very well.

I would shift the cost of the carbon mirror stalks (MSO option?) to carbon engine panels.

+1, the engine panels are the one thing I regret not doing and am thinking about having it done retrospectively. The original, grooved plastic panels are diffficult to clean and start to look cheap when dirty.
I'll seriously consider that, falb and Jerry. It's a "form follows function" car, but the base engine covers just look so bad to me. Clever of McLaren, perhaps.

I've been working with Greg Berner. He's been in the game a long time. I like him. Funny, frank, reserved. I have to say, my initial reception was a bit cool. Once he heard I had a 458 and did not need another test drive of the 12C, the scene relaxed. Also there was request of a pretty substantial deposit, pretty early, for targeted March 2013 delivery.

There were at least 5 cars there. One demo and two owner cars. Hearing one idle made me forget all about the 458's bark. :D Greg stated no new cars had been sold at either above or below list. I didn't believe that; it may not apply to any consignment car. He also stated that McLaren Chicago (LFSC) had sold so many cars that they were given additional allocation. Finally, he expected only another 50-80 coupes for NA next year and wanted to get my order in soon.

On the Ferrari side, they charged me for routine maintenance. So much for FNA policy. Where I come from, it means "fine needle aspiration" anyway.

As a bonus, the young lady at the service desk was so strikingly attractive that I think they sold me a Maserati.

ergo i'd also think about the carbon interior.. it makes a huge difference to me... gives the whole thing more of a race feel... if that's what you're looking for of course... i have the carbon seat backs as well, although they're obviously not such an obvious upgrade...
