Yimn, the formats I have been experimenting the most are mp3 and wav. I also have some music on my iPhone that has been converted to AAC 256 kbps by iTunes Match. I'm not sure which other formats are supported; perhaps somebody else can chime in.

Yimn and 6th. Not sure if this helps but I rip all my CD's through lossless via Microsoft on my computer into the library and then transfer them to a hard drive with a USB cable and it all fits in the armrest between the seats
Each track is 30mb + so you need a lot of space, fortunately for me, McLaren London provided a 320 gb hard drive which works really well.
